World Vision Ethiopia began its first intervention in Ethiopia in 1971 with relief and opened the Ethiopia office in 1975. Relief, rehabilitation and small community development projects dominated the decade that followed. During the 1984/85 drought, World Vision Ethiopia participated in a massive relief operation that saved the lives of millions of people.

Major Responsibility

Programs development & planning

• Develop annual project activity plans and update quarterly in collaboration with key departments and external stakeholders, and oversee implementation to high standards by scope and timelines,
• DIP plan documents meet time & quality standards, Procurement plans prepared and shared, weekly plans prepared and shared regularly

Project Implementation and sustainability 

• Participatory selection of beneficiaries, prioritisation of income generating activities, life skills awareness raising, and capacity building of the groups.
• Expertise and technical assistance provided in FMNR, climate smart agriculture, financial inclusion-S4T, local value chain development, IGA, and Natural Resource Management.
• FMNR/ANR/ and Agro-forestry practices for increased trees and vegetation cover promoted.
• Promote regenerative agriculture practices that sustainably reduce use of manufactured inputs and increase productivity and system resilience promoted.
• Access to Economically viable, gender inclusive climate resilient inputs & agricultural technologies improved.
• Works increase access to community based financial services through implementation of saving for transformation
• Enhanced commercialisation and market engagement in high-value, high growth value chains and works to enhance technical and business management skills for youth and Women
• Ensure timely procurement of and delivery of right quality and quantity of farmer inputs.
• Organising weekly field planning meetings with community-based facilitators to guide effective implementation
• Promoted resilience for faster adoption of improved farming technologies towards building secure livelihoods for the marginal poor.
• Implements activities in sustainable manner by actively participating beneficiaries and capacitate them to take over role

Stakeholders Engagement, Networking and Collaboration

• Take overall lead in the coordination of field level activities and represent World Vision in Settlement level livelihood working group meetings
• Facilitate the engagements of stakeholders during planning and development meetings, workshops and other fora.
• Organise quarterly review meetings for partners and communities at the project sites to reflect on project approaches, tools, impact of interventions, best practices, exit and sustainability strategies as well as create spaces and opportunities for action-learning and debate
• Ensure integration of the project with other Resilience and Livelihood on going activities including that of World Vision, partners and government.
• Build the capacity of farmer’s business groups/cooperatives to collectively engage local leaders on identified issues.

Documentation, Reporting and knowledge management 

• Writes and submits comprehensive monthly progress reports, and specific activity reports, and any other reports when necessary to his/her supervisor in a timely manner.
• Participate in monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including realisation of activities versus budget utilisation; (Providing input) rationale on financial reporting;
• Take lead in documentation and sharing of Impact/success stories and best practices to promote learning.
• Organise quarterly review meetings for partners and communities at the project sites to reflect on programmes/projects approaches, tools, impact of interventions, best practices, exit and sustainability strategies as well as create spaces and opportunities for action-learning and debate
• Review financial reports and take action

Community engagement and advocacy

• Develop farmer’s capacity to improve production and productivity of selected enterprises of desired quality by the market through demonstrations to farmer’s
• Mobilise and facilitate the engagements of stakeholders during planning and development meetings, workshops and other fora.
• Coordinate partners and communities in implementation of agreed action plans.
• Ensure integration of project with other ongoing Resilience and Livelihood activities including that of World Vision and government
• Experience:  Minimum of Bachelors in Agriculture or Agribusiness or Forestry or Development Studies, Economic Development and Livelihood or any other relevant discipline

Requirements

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

• BSc/MSC/MA in Agriculture or Agribusiness or Forestry or Development Studies, Economic Development and Livelihood or any other relevant discipline, Rural development, and related

​ Required Professional Experience

• 5 years and above for BSc and 3 years and above for MSc especially in forest management ,agro-forestry and carbon finance related projects

​ Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

• Experience of data collection, collation, analysis, and report writing
• Professional, motivated, open, creative, mature, responsible, flexible and, culturally sensitive
• Strong leadership, organisational and analytical skills, and ability to work under pressure
• Excellent verbal and written skills in English
• Excellent computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel, spreadsheets
• Track record demonstrating high integrity, innovativeness, creativity, reliability and dependable
• Team player, Self-motivator, able to work with limited supervision
• Possess the ability to work with different partners, local authorities, local organizations and NGOs, to develop and maintain positive relationships.
