Job Description


Summary:

The Internal Auditor ensures successful and timely completion of assigned audit engagements, from start to finish inclusion of preplanning and wrap up activities. He/she applies risk and control concepts to scenarios encountered and identifies any potential issues. Communicates identified issues with the Executive Management.

Roles and responsibilities of Internal auditor

  • The below enumerated principal responsibilities are inclusive of both program specific and firm-wide related administration, as applicable.
  • Performs financial, operational, information systems, and compliance audit assignments. 75% of the work hours will be allocated to internal controls and 25% to compliance.
  • Assists the Finance Director in overseeing funder audits. This includes responding to all donor /funder requests, reviewing documents prior to submission to the funder’s auditor, when needed, reconciling the trial balance and general ledger detail to the funder billing as well as the funder budget.
  • Assesses the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, compliance with laws and regulations, donor requirements and applicable policies and procedures; and evaluates efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  • Makes recommendations and drafts audit reports for better management decision making.
  • Conducts and monitors follow-up on status actions taken on said identified issues and produces related management reports.

  • Internal audits are performed in a professional manner, with clearly defined audit objectives and scope. Audit steps ensure attainment of audit objectives.
  • Audit reports are clear and concise. Findings and recommendations are properly documented.
  • Compliance with funding party contractual requirements is reviewed.
  • Enforcement of policies across the agency is monitored.
  • Staff skills are enhanced and will benefit FIDO by providing better deliverables.
  • All other related tasks are completed on time and accurately

Job Requirement

Required Qualifications

  • BA/MA with 8 years of experience or MSC with minimum 5 years of experience major in accounting, finance or related field with Accounting/auditing certification such as CPA Independent work planning, project management and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and conceptual skills necessary with the ability to convey pertinent information effectively and comprehensively, and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
