Building upon 12 years of leadership J H Simex Private Limited Company is a combination of three companies that currently own and manage Real Estate, J H Simex Tour & Travel and a Five Star Intercontinental Addis Hotel.

J H Simex is a leading company with a 152 luxuriously furnished hotel rooms, 42 furnished apartments, 13 conference halls which accommodate more than 2,000 guests at a time, Bistro Café, Night Club, 360 Degree Revolving Restaurant and many more facilities within the two buildings. The Intercontinental Addis Hotel was built at a cost of 320 million birr in its first phase investment, on a 2400 square meters plot which opened in October 2008. The second building which is also part of the hotel was built at a cost of 200 million birr, on a 3,500 square meters plot which just recently opened January 2017.

Founded by Mr Semachew Kebede Kassa the company is headquartered at the heart of Kazanchis Area in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This has created job opportunities for 378 employees. Intercontinental Addis Hotel has been awarded in 2014 and 2016 for the Luxury Business Hotel in Ethiopia. This award serves as recognition of sustained commitment to excellence in outstanding achievement in the international luxury hospitality industry.

Description:

  • Ensure that all documents received are processed in a timely manner, along with review of the Daily Cashiers Report on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that all documents are reconciled with the Daily Cashiers Report, any open item is highlighted to the Rooms Director or F&B Director of the respective hotel with a copy to the Chief Accountant and Financial Controller.
  • Co-ordinate with the Rooms & F&B Department of the Hotel to ensure that all queries are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all revenues are posted in accordance with the comments on the customer Purchase Request or guarantee letter, any discrepancy or deviation needs to be highlighted, query raised and resolved within a timely manner, reported as well to the accounts receivables team.
  • Assist in ensuring that a structured process of filing document is designed to ensure prompt retrieval and processing of documents.
  • Based on the designed Documentation Management System maintain all documentation in comprehensive and meticulous filing system on a daily basis; soft copy as well as hard copy.
  • Maintain cordial relations with all “customers”, both internal and external; however ensures that all the agreed procedures and terms are adhered.
  • Audit the activities of the operational departments.
  • Support the preparation of financial information for daily and monthly reports related to sales example the Daily revenue report, daily covers report, discounts and void reports, adjustment and rebate reports, foreign currency daily summary and month reports etc.
  • Maintain records of sales transactions and test their accuracy and its authorization.
  • Verify and balance all night audit work example credit card, cash, city ledger.
  • Maintains over / short report and submits to Finance Director or Chief Accountant
  • Responsible to total, balance and close out income journal at the end of each month
  • Prepare all necessary journal vouchers for end of month
  • Prepare the daily and month end output VAT reconciliation and coordinate with accounts payables to declare
  • Prepare the daily output Z report reconciliation.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Accounting degree from a well-recognized university or college
  • 3-5 years’ work experience as income auditor in a hotel
  • Computer knowledge and experience in Hotel Opera software and MS office programs is mandatory.
