Job Description

General Responsibilities:-

The Head of school is hired by and works closely with the CEO and Board of Directors of Andinet Education and training PLC (AET) to serve as the leader of the school’s operation and acts as the educational advisor to the CEO and the Board of Directors.

The head of school is directly or indirectly responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and supervision of all instructional and co-curricular programs within Andinet International School (AIS). The head of school is also responsible for the implementation of strategic plan of AIS for the growth and enrichment of the school.

Scope of Responsibility:-

  • The Head of School must regularly liaise with and proactively communicate with the CEO and the Board of Directors on school operations, potential issues that could negatively impact the school, areas of overlap between governance and operation, and provide input to strategic discussions.
  • If emergency action must be taken when no policy or procedures exist and there is insufficient time to consult with the Managing Director or Board, the Head of school should be empowered to act. However, her/his decision shall be reported to and discussed with the CEO the earliest possible, not later than 24 hours.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implements and monitors all policies of the PLC
  • Co-ordinate and direct the overall academic affairs of the school
  • Provides specialized administrative support in the development, implementation, and marketing of school functions.
  • Serves as a central point of contact between students, staff, parents , other departments, and/or external constituencies on day- to-day programmatic, operational, and academic matters; assists with  trainings,  seminars,  meetings,  special  projects, and/or general problem resolution.
  • Responsible for communicating with network of partners regarding school development and implementation
  • Promote the mission, vision, identity and value proposals of the school and ensure communication of the desired image and position to all constituencies within the marketplace and the general public.
  • Communicate with target audiences  and  build  and  develop customer    and    partner    relationships    particularly    with institutions and schools
  • Ensure effective implementation and continued development of AIS programs through oversight and monitoring
  • Ensures all school licenses, subscriptions and permits are up to date and renewed prior to expiry
  • Decide upon all applications of student admissions and all instances of expulsion of students
  • Ensure the health and safety of students, faculty and staff while on school’s property or under its supervision
  • Keep the CEO informed about the Head of school’s absence and provide for campus leadership/coverage in the absence of the head of school.
  • Is responsible for maintaining high quality staff through recruitment, appointment, training, evaluation and dismissal.
  • Develop and use to the greatest degree possible the abilities and energies of all staff and provide for their involvement and participation in the growth of the school in line with the mission and vision of the school
  • Supervise and evaluate all immediate subordinates
  • Prepare the annual staffing plan with rationale/justification, including projected enrolment numbers, in collaboration with key personnel and coordinate with the CEO to finalize the annual budget process
  • Prepare and administer the annual budget together with the CEO, Director financial planning and accounting, after a consultative and collaborative process with staff and present it to the Board for approval
  • Ensure the physical property of AIS is properly maintained and appropriately developed
  • Promote a positive image of AIS that reflects AIS living gits mission through all communications and interactions with AIS community and beyond.
  • Regularly initiate and solicit feedback from parents, students, and staff on school operations, including but not limited to, teaching practices, student learning, student voice within the school, and living the mission. This feedback is to be shared with the CEO/Board of directors as well as the AIS community to drive further strategic discussion for the school.
  • Initiate links with and maintain communications with other schools and educational institutions within Ethiopia and around the world in order to promote AIS students and graduates while also identifying if there could be any mutual benefit from more formal relationship.
  • Implement, monitor and provide regular (every quarter) status reports for the action plans within the approved AIS strategic and annual plan.
  • Minimize potential loss and apply sensible caution in judgment of any issue that may cause financial risks to the school; ensure to consult and seek advice from the CEO.
  • Maximize marketing and promotion through strategic planning and monitoring to achieve the maximum potential for our admissions and offering
  • Perform any other reasonable duties requested by the CEO/Board

Job Requirement

Education:- MA/MSc/PhD in Social Science/Natural Science

Experience:- 17/13 years or above, relevant work experience in school respectively

Language:- Native English speaker
