Job Description


Background

The Amanuel Light and Life Development Association (ALLDA) is an indigenous, non-profit, and nongovernmental Christian humanitarian organization that implements participatory and innovative development programs in conjunction with the International Child Care Ministry (ICCM). ALLDA was founded in 2004 by a group of Ethiopians from several Ammanuel Light and Life Churches across the country in 2004 and continued to operate the following year.

It has its headquarters in the Addis Ababa Region and began operations in the Oromiya Regional State and the South Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Regional State, where the organization is dedicated to fostering community participation and performing holistic educational development initiatives.

ALLDA has evolved in its two decades of service from simply raising awareness to providing longterm solutions and hope for the poorest, most vulnerable, and disadvantaged socioeconomic groups, with a focus on women, youth, and children.

To achieve this goal, Grant Program Officer position is created to lead the acquisition of funding in proposal development and design for high-value, competitive and complex funding opportunities. Main responsibilities of the Grant Officer will include proposal design, timely and quality donor reporting; grant management, information management and supporting local IGA,

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Grants Acquisition

  • Lead the coordination and writing of concept and proposal development with internal and external stakeholder.
  • Upload the final proposal and budget proposal documents in to institutions like OCHA GMS and other donor application portals.
  • Work closely with finance and technical staff to develop the narrative and budget as per the donor requirements.
  • Manage the grant submission and acquisition liaising with Program Directors and Country Director to ensure necessary program, financial and technical inputs.
  • Monitor funding gaps and identify potential funding opportunities and source and develop strategies for accessing new funding.
  • Identify new grant funding for programs and projects which are aligned to the strategic priorities of the organization.
  • Coordinate with concerned ALLDA staffs to ensure programming according to donor regulations.

Grants and Donor Management

  • Lead donor relation with timely and quality agreement process and regular reporting communication.
  • Review and ensure the quality and timely submission for donor on monthly, annual and end-of-project narrative reports, newsletters, situational reports and other reports as necessary. Work closely with consortium partners and ALLDA teams to ensure timely and quality reports.
  • Organize project kick off meetings for all the assigned newly awarded grants.
  • Monitor and provide coordinated support for the achievements of financial and program implementation progress are aligned to the agreed grant requirements and timeline.
  • Link with the operations and finance departments to ensure the compiling/collating of major donor management reports.

Prepositioning & External Relations

  • Assist the Program Director in tracking the donor landscape (research, analyses, develop, track relationships with new and current donors) to organize prepositioning meetings with donors and key partners.
  • Assist in updating partner mapping and identify critical partners for consortia to prepositioning for grants, including but not limited to locally based INGOs and local NGOs.
  • Contribute to the development of a funding plan.
  • Ensure donor meetings are scheduled and post donor visit action plans are followed up and implemented in a timely manner.
  • Strengthen established partnerships with other international and local partners.

Knowledge and Information Management

  • Proactively gather information from relevant sources, donor agencies and other organizations which may be of use ALLDA for informing decisions.
  • Stay up to date with country-specific response plans by the U.N., donors active in the relevant clusters, and other key actors
  • Ensure the development and improvement of internal business processes for effective grant acquisition & management & contribute to knowledge management to promote learning.
  • Compile and analyses relevant information to inform proposal design and promote learning.
  • Map and compile program information for sharing as required with stakeholders.
  • Ensure the updating of the grant acquisition and management tracking matrix tools.

Availability: As Soon as Possible

Number of positions: One

Employment Type: One year with high possibility of Extension based on proven performance and availability of funding

Salary Scale: As per the organization salary scale and benefit packages

Job Requirements

Person Specification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, International Development studies, International Relations or related fields of study. A masters’ Degree is desirable but not mandatory.

Required Professional Experience

  • Experience in project concept/proposal writing to a high standard.
  • Very high attention to detail, with experience refining and editing professional-level content.
  • Proven Experience in grant acquisition
  • Advanced writing skills in English.
  • Project life cycle management skills
  • Track record of success in grant fundraising, including donor relation and proposal writing.
