Job Description

Role purpose

Responsible for leading the implementation of commercial strategy to deliver Bayer’s key commercial targets including revenue, profitability, and market share goals. Provide leadership and stewardship to BLSE team, to ensure sustainable performance, through regular coaching, inspiring and appropriate guidance, and direction.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Develop and implement the strategic growth and operational plan for the local market to achieve overall brand, revenue and volume market share goals in the country.
  • Deliver financial targets for seed business and ensure collection of receivables.
  • Lead and take accountability for business planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
  • Attract, develop, manage, lead, and inspire the sales team to ensure consistent high performance in the team, growth and retention of high potential talent
  • Build effective relationships and partnerships with enabling functions to ensure
  • collaboration and leveraging of Bayer’s global capabilities.
  • Provide data-driven competitive and market information (competition actions, market trends, product performance/satisfaction levels, commercial acceptance and regulatory issues).
  • Build, maintain, and leverage relationships with key external stakeholders including regulators, distribution partners, social partners, and seed industry associations
  • To organize, direct, administer and control the operations of the company in accordance with guidelines and directives of the Board of Directors.
  • To act in the name of the company before third parties, public and private bodies and in legal proceedings brought by or against the company.
  • To act in the name of the company for the attainment of its objectives as designated in the Memorandum of Association.

Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

  • Minimum of an undergraduate degree in agriculture or related field. A Postgraduate degree in a business-related field is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial sales with significant direct sales and team management experience. Experience in the agriculture sector is preferred.
