Job Description


World Vision Ethiopia began its first intervention in Ethiopia in 1971 with relief and opened the Ethiopia office in 1975. Relief, rehabilitation and small community development projects dominated the decade that followed. During the 1984/85 drought, World Vision Ethiopia participated in a massive relief operation that saved the lives of millions of people.

Major Responsibility

  • Direct support the prevention activities, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the program to ensure that the prevention program is implemented according to work plan and spending plan and that the project objectives and committed-indicators are met. Furthermore, Collect prevention qualitative and quantitative data, analyse, monitor and evaluate the result based prevention activities and share project data and information for problem analysis, planning and evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all relevant stakeholders including government and other agencies, other implementing partners, community leaders, organisations and informal structures, and represent the program in all stakeholder meetings.
  • Develop a quarterly work plan, monthly work plan and monitoring plan in advance and provide training for community workers and/or community activists for GBV awareness raising activities; Economic empowerment activities and conduct monitoring site visit on a quarterly basis this including quarterly meeting and assist in safety audit activity as needed.
  • Identify community workers and/or community activist focal point in each woreda, provide regular communication check in, specific team leader tasks and share the communication/task plan.
  • In support from the GBV and MHPSS Coordinator ensure the roll out and success of SASA! Together Implementation, including update training materials, adaptation of materials to include SASA! Recruiting and supervising community activists, implementing monitoring and evaluation plans, implementing SASA! Together Strategies.

Requirements

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

  • University degree in social work, sociology , psychology , public health and relevant field of social sciences

Required Professional Experience

  • A minimum of three years experience in child protection, Gender-based violence and related areas, program/project development and management in emergency context is required.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing GBV training to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience in SASA!/ SASA! Together approach is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience on Gender Based Violence programming including prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) an asset \
  • Extensive training in the fields of GBV, psycho-social well-being, case management, SASA, Girls shine , Community Conversation and other IASC, GBV minimum standard.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • University degree in social work, sociology, psychology, child protection, public health and relevant fields of social sciences.
  • Knowledge and skills of and ability to implement integrated Gender Based Violence project
  • Awareness of or interest in community based protection mechanisms.

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

  • Frequent travel to the project sites and to NO as needed
