Job Description


CVDA has been re-registered and licensed by the Ethiopian Ministry of Justice, Charities and Societies Agency, on November 30, 2009 as an Ethiopian Residents charity in accordance with the Charities and Societies proclamation No. 621/2009 with registration No. 0588. As per 1113/2019 proclamation also re-registered on July 30, 2019.

CVDA has permission to work at the national level however so far operates marginal parts of Benshangule Gumuz Region, Sidama region, South Ethiopia Region, Central Ethiopia region, South west Ethiopia region, Oromiya region, Afar region and Addis Ababa City administration.

It is member of Consortium of Reproductive Health Association (CORHA), Union of Ethiopian Women Charitable Association (UEWCA), Ethiopian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative/EEITI/, Ethiopia Civil Society Coalition for Scaling up Nutrition/ECSC-SUN/ and Afar Region Health Partner Forum.

Vision

CVDA envisions a poverty-free Ethiopia where equity and equality are ensured.

Mission:

CVDA’s mission is to enhance socioeconomic development in health, education, agriculture, environment, livelihood, and WaSH, humanitarian responses, community-based peace-building, and good governance through holistic approaches and working with the community to contribute towards sustainable development and an improved standard of living in Ethiopia.

Overall goal:

CVDA’s goal is to contribute to poverty alleviation through community-based approaches by implementing programs for development, good governance, and humanitarian responses in different regions of the country.

Description of the Vacancy

Common Vision for Development Association (CVDA) is on the process of starting project focuses women economic empowerment in 7 woreda of somali region and announced the following anticipated Project on women economic empowerment in collaboration with PSI Ethiopia

Financial Inclusive Advisor

Reports to: Regional Project Lead

Duty Station: Jigjiga

Required Number: 01

Duration of employment: one year with high possibility of extension based on performance and availability of fund.

Salary: As per the scale of the organization

Main duty and Responsibility

Finacial Inclusive advisor will have the following duty and responsibility but not limted to listed below:

  • Collaborating with banks, Microfinance Institutions (MFIs), and mobile money providers to design and scale Sharia-compliant financial solutions (e.g., Murabaha or Mudarabah) tailored to women entrepreneurs
  • Developing financial instruments like drought-resilient livestock packages, input-linked loans, and solar-irrigation financing to help women pastoralists adapt to severe weather shocks
  • Executing comprehensive gender-inclusive market assessments to pinpoint gaps in current livestock, agriculture, and retail value chains.
  • Creating structural pipelines that connect informal women’s groups to formal private sector entities, fintechs, commercial banks, and government funding opportunities
  • She/He will provide support to VSLA groups and Enterprises to be successful using her/his skill and experiences.
  • Mobilize stakeholders and private sectors to identify business and employment opportunity for targeted young women
  • Linkage the VSLA Group to Financial service provider & market actors.
  • Ensure financial and technical guidance is provided to women’s VSLA groups throughout their journey, from recruitment to final linkage with financial service providers.
  • Provide training and technical support to VSAL Group, Community facilitators and DAs
  • Provide financial advice and guidance to VSLA groups, community facilitators, and Development Agents (DAs).”

About You

Required qualification and experience

  • At least two (2) years with master’s degree or five (5) years of experience with first degree in Administration, Marketing, Economics or other relevant disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience in relevant areas such as general business management, private sector engagement, sales and marketing, supply chain strengthening, social entrepreneurship in pastoralist community setting.
  • Applicants need to have good English, Amharic and somali language skill and computer skill
