Main job purpose

Main purpose pf the job is to provide financial support and guidance to a partnership project that is aimed at accelerating growth for food and refreshments division in East Africa through introduction of a mainstream portfolio.

The role will be required to proactively challenge and drive the business agenda, by providing financial support, guidance, and insights. In addition, the FBP will ensure that financial considerations are the key criteria in all business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Case: Work with the project leader to develop a viable business case for this project over a 2-year time frame.
  • Negotiation: Play a major role in the negotiation with our business partners for supply and route to market of these products.
  • Business Partnering: Provide valuable business & financials insights to the overall project leader and other interested partners involved with this project.
  • Foreign Exchange Issues: Understand and then optimise the flow of foreign exchange that will be generated by this project, with particular focus on Ethiopia.
  • Controls: As the project progresses, ensure that there are appropriate controls in place, generating process documentation and ensuring there is regular review and monitoring to identify potential control risks and recommending corrective actions.
  • Relationships: Act as a liaison between the local and global teams to ensure there is consistent communication and full alignment on key project priorities. Also work closely with local teams on the ground to ensure that in the long term all processes and ways of working can be fully embedded within the normal East Africa structure.

Knowledge & Skill

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or related field of study
  • Minimum of 5- years working experience, ideally with a balance between selling and sourcing operations
  • Excellent understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis
  • Good appreciation and focus on the risk and controls framework
  • A strong team-player and ability to work in a matrix organisation
  • Excellent communication skills and influencing skills
