Job Description


Job purpose

The Finance Assistant will undertake, facilitate and guide the implementation of all finance-related activities for the successful implementation of the projects of NABU Ethiopia in SWEPR, Bonga.

Duties and responsibilities

Accounting

  • Handle all bank-related matters according to Ethiopian law, donors’ requirements, and the organization’s regulations
  • Effect all authorized contractual, tax, and cash payments
  • Perform all bookkeeping of financial data using Quick books accounting software
  • Prepare all required financial reports
  • Support audits and reviews by Ethiopian institutions, auditors, and donors
  • Handle sufficient and complete documentation of financial files and documents
  • Prepare daily cash flows records, level of liquidity, and cash reconciliation

Administration

  • Communication via email, phone/ fax, and in person to/with project staff, visitors, partners, and clients
  • Perform office reception function
  • Maintain the general filing system and file all correspondence
  • Support organization of project and office events, e.g., meetings, workshops, and training
  • Maintain adequate inventory of office supplies
  • Work in close contact with head office in Addis
  • Assist in or carry out other tasks as required by the regional office coordinator and Finance and Administration Officer
  • Willingness to travel to the field

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications : University degree in accounting or related fields from recognized institutes

Professional experience and skills

  • At least 3 years of working experience after graduation in related fields, preferably in an NGO environment
  • Proven excellent skills in Quick book accounting software
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) in English and Amharic
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and experience in IPSAS will be plus
  • Knowledge and experience in event management, e.g. workshops
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and reliability
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team

Advantage: Knowledge of the project area including local language

Location: NABU Ethiopia SWEPR Regional Office Bonga, Kafa Zone, SWEPR, Ethiopia
