Job Description


Background

The Association of Pastoralist Community for Change (APCfC) is a local NGO registered with the Oromia Attorney General Bureau (OAGB) under the Oromia Regional State Proclamation for Civil Society Organizations, certificate No. WB/03/0099. APCfC is currently implementing a five-year nexus project (2023-2027) funded by CST-Ethiopia in the Dire and Moyale Woredas of the Borana zone.

The project aims to empower women and older adolescent girls to achieve sustainable livelihoods, including diverse food sources and economic well-being, while enhancing safety, psychosocial well-being, and participation in leadership. It also supports women and men affected by crises to meet their basic needs and transition from reliance on relief assistance to independently securing their food and livelihoods. To achieve its project objectives, APCfC invites interested and qualified professionals to apply for the Field Project Coordinator position.

Position: Field Project Coordinator

Required number: 1 (One)

Duty Station: Mega-Dire with frequent travel to project sites in Dire and Moyale Woredas

Terms of Employment: One year (with the possibility of extension), Full time

Basic Salary: Birr 63,756.06(Sixty-three thousand seven hundred fifty-six birr & zero six cents) plus 30% of hardship Allowance.

Job position summary:

Under direct supervision of APCfC Program Manager, the overall role of the Field project coordinator is to coordinate the “Nexus Project” implementation in Dire and Moyale Woredas from APCfC’s field coordination office located in Mega town (Dire Woreda). He/she will be responsible for overall coordination and management of all project components through undertaking day-to-day planning, coordination and management of the project activities and coaching of assigned project staff.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective management of the project in line with the application package, workplans and other related project documents.
  • Ensure strategic engagement, networking and collaboration with all project stakeholders, donor staff and target program participants and proper recording
  • Ensure effective M&E and Progress Reporting
  • Ensure efficient use of the available equipment and financial resources for the project.
  • Maintain donor compliance and appropriate application of the organization financial policy
  • Serves as focal person of APCfC in emergency preparedness and response planning (EPRP) at the Woreda/ Zonal level and provides support to local partners including the community.
  • Support on advocacy and information sharing on MSD learning and support partners to share learnings, with relevant stakeholders
  • Assess capacity building needs of project staff and organize and accordingly document and share key lessons learned, case stories and program achievements for shared learning.
  • Ensure personal commitment in building constructive and collaborative working relationships and team spirit with project staff and smooth application of APCfC’s Compliant Handling Mechanisms.
  • Compile regular updates/ reports of the ongoing development and humanitarian response and peace building activities of the project to line manager.

About You

Education and Work Experience Required:

  • Master’s Degree (M.A) or Bachler of Arts Degree (B.A) in social sciences, Rural development, Community development, Sociology, business Management and others related field of studies with minimum of 8 years practical experience for M.A holders and 10 years for B.A holders.
  • Experience of working in a humanitarian, development, Peace building and related projects in in Pastoralist areas in the NGO setting is an asset.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge and experience of project coordination, program management cycle particularly within humanitarian and development contexts including excellent concept note/proposal writing and report writing skills.
  • Good understanding of the context of the pastoral environment and that of women, girls and youth issues on social, political, economic and cultural context of the area.
  • Knowledge and understanding on sustainable livelihood framework and Practical knowledge in applying the market system development (MSD) approach, local advocacy strategy and Women Empowerment and GBV project implementation in the context of humanitarian and development projects.
  • Experience in Project cycle management including excellent concept note/proposal writing and report writing skills.
  • Experience of leadership and management of team ability to establish and sustain effective relationships with local communities, and partners including government sectors.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching/mentoring.
  • Good practical knowledge of the standard computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Good communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English and Afan Oromo languages is mandatory.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the Project operation areas and culture and norms of pastoralist community is an asset.
