Job Description
Reach The Needy – Ethiopia (RTN-Ethiopia) is a child focused community based, not for profit, non-religious and discrimination free indigenous humanitarian national organization that exists to help the Deprived, Excluded and Vulnerable children become productive, confident and responsible citizens, parents and leaders of tomorrow that directly involve and contribute for the development of the country. RTN has been working different development & humanitarian programs in partnership with ChildFund and CARE Ethiopia.
RTN-Ethiopia, recently going to secure grant from ChildFund- Ethiopia to implement an “ECD” project with the objective of establishing community based childcare centers at 4 selected PSNP woredas of two regions; Sidama and Southern Ethiopia.
Therefore, we would like to invite interested and qualified applicants for the following post.
NUMBER OF POSITION: Two (2)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Field coordinators conduct regular supportive supervision visits at each childcare centers and provide coaching to community facilitators to ascertain the quality of the childcare centers and improve interaction of facilitators/childcare workers with the children. Provide leadership and oversight in the implementation and management of all ECD project activities at all site of the project operational areas. He/She will lead project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation at the project sites, generate and assess the outputs, outcomes and impacts of program intervention and activities. He/She will have direct responsibility for ECD and women/family empowerment program implementation and management in the project Deliverables, collaborating with various governmental and non-governmental stakeholders.
- Cascading trainings on Early Childhood Development/Education, and Women Economic Empowerment
- Coaching, Mentoring, and Supporting childcare workers, and community facilitators
- Ensuring quality of childcare centres and health of Self-Help Groups
- Collaborating with government and non-governmental stakeholders to ensure quality implementation and sustainability of project activities
- Creatively engaging with community members to address issue of quality ECD programming, women economic empowerment, intimate partner violence, child nutrition, and engagement of fathers/male partners
- Reporting, regular collection of data, and addressing challenges
- Organize trainings, workshops, and learning sessions
- Development of annual and quarterly implementation plans and budgets
- Lead and manage performance of project activities
- Support the technical design of project interventions and development of technical guidance and tools for office and staff at site level.
- Represent the project externally with partners, government and other agencies at woreda & regional levels
- Prepare and share quality project reports as per donor and government requirements and also the project monitoring & evaluation plan to the office
- Ensure all the organization’s project documentation is filed and organized to accountability purposes
- Ensure Project learning and achievements are documented and disseminated to stakeholders
- Ensure mid-term and final project evaluation take place.
- Manage and monitor partnership with funding organizations, including to ensure efficient utilization and timely accountability
- Manage project resources efficiently and effectively in accordance with organization’s and donors policies and guidelines
- Ensure the project is implemented in compliance with donor/grant requirements
- Organize regular performance review meeting to assess progress but also to agree on and communicate any changes in strategy with the key project stakeholder
- Ensure adequate stakeholders consultation and participation at all stages of the project implementation
- Organize training and coaching for staffs on ECD.
- Faster collaboration and support in the organization to develop plans for integrating ECCD with other thematic areas
- Ensure RTN Safeguarding Policy and Guidelines and adhered to in project implementation
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: One year Contract with the possibility of extension based on availability of fund and work performance.
SALARY: As per the organization scale.
PLACE OF WORK: One at Hawassa/Dilla and One at Wolayita Zone.
About You
EDUCATION QUALIFICATION:
- Bsc/BA and above in Early Child Education/Development, Public health, Nurse, Psychology or Sociology
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge and experience on Early Childhood Development/Education is needed
- Prior experience of engagement with direct community members is needed
- Knowledge of local language and project site/context is needed
- Prior experience of providing participatory trainings, coaching, and mentoring is needed
- Experience working with local government and non-government stakeholders is needed
- Strong computer skills in MS Office is needed
- Strong communication skills is needed
- Experience in working on issues of vulnerable children is an advantage
- Reasonable experience in community-based programming
- Knowledge of environment and current effective practice and policy on Early Childhood care and Development
- Good knowledge of donor grant and contract regulations
- Demonstrable abilities in planning, budget and reporting
- Excellent communication skills, both in written English and in face- to – face presentations.
- Ability to work in stamina
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Early Childhood Care and Development projects, rural development and livelihood projects, out of which 2 years’ service in coordination level
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Concept paper development, operational planning, budget planning and management, monitoring and evaluation, report writing;
- Proficiency in standard office software packages;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrated leadership ability to inspire and empower others;
- Demonstrated technical and managerial ability, sound judgment, ability to interact and work effectively with others at all levels;
- Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality, sensitivity to HIV/AIDS, transparent and participatory management.
LANGUAGE ABILITY: Good communication skill in Amharic & English. Knowledge of the project implementation areas languages is needed
