Job Description


Purpose of the Role

The factory manager is responsible for ensuring that the factory operates efficiently and profitably, while maintaining high quality standards. In a startup, the factory manager is expected to design and implement key standard operating procedures, set the minimum acceptable standards for the entire production process, establish the right control system, set basic KPIs, Quality Control, safety procedures, MP and attract and retain key staff to meet the company’s qualitative and quantitative goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement production plans and schedules
  • Manage the manufacturing process to ensure that products are produced efficiently and to a high quality standard
  • Supervise and manage factory staff
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures
  • Set inventory management procedures and systems
  • Manage inventory systems
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations
  • Implement a financial system that helps the company to monitor profitability at the shift level and truck cost in detail
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures
  • Work with the sales team to ensure that products are delivered to customers on time and in full
  • Continuously design and implement plans for the effective use of resources
  • Oversee production activities 24/7 to ensure on-time and within-budget delivery of products
  • Define the need and participate in the hiring, orienting, and training of technical production employees to ensure a competent, agile, and motivated workforce
  • Closely work with all stakeholders to forecast material requirements, develop procurement plans, and ensure the supply of raw materials to the factory
  • Develop professional health and safety procedures in accordance with internationally recognized standards
  • Ensure a coordinated factory that is agile and adaptable to the ebb and flow of logistics, sales, and business development
  • Analyze and provide solutions to manufacturing challenges or problems
  • Lead efforts to cost-effectively automate unsafe and inefficient production processes
  • Implement a digital data collection system in the factory to provide in-depth analysis of the factory’s state
  • Set and monitor factory KPIs
  • Prepare a comprehensive and insightful report on financial, operational, safety, and people-related topics.
  • Develop and implement a continuous factory staff training and rewards program to ensure career development and motivation among factory staff
  • Review personnel performance to determine individuals most suited for promotion
  • Lead and coordinate emergency responses related to the warehouse/factory (accidents, fires, natural disasters, unscheduled inspections from authorities, etc.)

Type of Employment: Full Time

Reports to: General Manager

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, MBA or closely related fields
  • Minimum of 8 years working in a manufacturing setting preferably with similar products (FMCG industry, Detergent or skin care product)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a team within a factory environment
  • Experience in setting up SCADA, MES, MRP, ERP, CRM, WMS or other data acquisition, analysis and planning systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in factory layout and production optimization using industrial software.
  • Willing to work in a fast paced & challenging environment.
  • Deep knowledge in production and quality control standards (ISO standards) is a plus.
  • Sound knowledge of factory layout planning,
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Outstanding time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
