Job Description


Background

Shayashone is a fast growing business engaged in manufacturing and distribution, provision of agribusiness advisory/consultancy services, import and export. The company is currently manufacturing and distributes hermetic storage (PICS) bags and water filters. Our import and export business so far has been focused on industrial raw materials but we are preparing to add vegetable seed and agro-chemicals within our portfolio. Likewise, until recently we have been exporting our own products to neighboring countries however within the next months we are forgoing to add pulses, oilseed and spices in our export product list.

Short Description of Position

The export sales and marketing officer will have an overall roles and responsibility of efficiently coordinating the existing import and export portfolios on the one hand and take active role in developing the new export (pulses, oilseed and spices) and import (seed and agro-chemicals) products within our target.

 Key Roles and Responsibilities

  •  Export Marketing

    •  Hunt and follow potential buyers particularly for pulses, oilseed and spices export.
    • Attend online and in person business meetings to look for buyers
    • Actively seeks buyers using digital marketing.
    • Provide important market leads to the manager for serious negotiation.
    • Promotes and represents the interests of the company at senior levels, including to governmental institutions, key customers, suppliers and commercial and trade organizations.
  •  Export Sales

    • Directs foreign sales and service outlets of the company: negotiates contracts with foreign sales and distribution centers to establish outlets.
    • Follow-up on sales contracts
    • Develops and maintains effective communications with new and existing customers to negotiate contracts that contribute to corporate objectives.
    • Attend any communication with buyers.
  • Sourcing and Logistics

    • Closely work with supply chain team to manage outbound logistics.
    • Work with agribusiness team to ensure sourcing that meets the quality needs of customers.
    • Check supplier documentations and supervise buyer documentations
    • Create working procedures and modalities in consultation with company management team and other functions.
  •  Leadership and Management Competences

    • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with local and international actors.
    • Mastery in demonstrating personal effectiveness and delivering results in teamwork
    • Outstanding skills in planning, organizing and reporting
    • Strong analytical and critical reasoning and problem solving.
    • Good understanding of cross-cultural working practices.
    • Being proactive and regularly seek to identify and communicate potential problems and propose solutions to the appropriate level of management.
    • Ability to perform under stress with minimal supervision and able to handle multiple tasks at a time in calm and organized manner. Have an attitude stimulating integration of diversity and inclusiveness?
  •  Technical Competences

    •  Proven knowledge of agricultural products and sourcing processes for export.
    • Hands on experience in export business development
    • Able to plan and execute with minimal supervision.
    • Solid knowledge of export logistics processes.
    • Able to understand contract and procurement procedures that bear accountability to the company.

23-30 years

Job Requirements

Education, work experience and language

  • BA or Masters in Business Administration, Marketing and related fields.
  • 2-4 years of hands on experience in export and import business management. Knowledge agricultural product export business is a must. .
  • Proficiency in Spoken and Witten English and Amharic languages is a must.

 Key working relationships

  • Internal
    • Reports to the General Manager
    • Develop import and export functional team and work with other business units.
    • Communicates with staff of all business functions and sister companies.
  • External
    • Occasionally Communicates with the partners
    • Represents the SYS with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
