Job Description


sequa gGmbH is a globally operating non-profit development organisation. Since 1991 sequa has carried out programmes and projects of international cooperation in close collaboration with the German private sector. sequa offers know-how and long-term experience in capacity development for chambers and associations (BMOs), vocational education and training, private sector development and trade promotion. The organisation is based in Bonn, Germany. sequa employs more than 100 persons (2021) and reported a turnover of EUR 60m in 2021.

The Project

Implemented on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Special Initiative Jobs (SI Jobs) programme of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) is promoting job-creating growth in selected sectors in Ethiopia. SI Jobs targets private sector development for economic clusters in selected geographical areas and promotes sustainable investments that leads to more employment.

The sequa gGmbH implements the SME Grant Scheme in Ethiopia on behalf of the GIZ SI Jobs Scheme. Priority will be provided to the textile and garment industry. To qualify, the SME must be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the project not acting as an intermediary and be able to demonstrate proven track record of working in their field of expertise and to have regularly carried out activities in its sector. The overall objective is the Creation of Jobs by investing grants into capacities in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Ethiopia. Specifically, the SME Grant Scheme targets an improved market position of SMEs by supporting SMEs along the following five indicators:

  • Increase of the SMEs’ competitiveness by improving product quality and production output.
  • Diversification of products and services offered to the market by innovation, research, and development.
  • Strengthen existing markets by strengthening tested distribution chains and market linkages to new clients.
  • Building new market linkages whether national or international
  • Overall financial sustainability by reaching good business conduct, establish sound management process and access to external finances.

Deliverables

These are the final expected deliverables from the expert consultant:

  • Functional E-Commerce website platform incl.
    Technically well-designed and robust tool for designers to have an easy-to-use digital selling channel.
    International selling hub capable of receiving payments from customers and shipping logistics well defined.
    Private section for designers so that they can manage their brand information.
    Private real-time selling reports as part of the system private section.

Your Tasks / Responsibilities

To design, create and implement of a new digital selling channel for thriving designers in the sustainable fashion industry, to expose to the world their creations, opening a new selling channel in a vast international environment with a high potential online market.

Research and propose the trending UX to be implemented.
Define software architecture.
Present the software deliverables plan and dates.
Lead software revisions and show keynotes of the progress to shareholders.
Implement system functionalities.
Initial data load and assist designers in their information uploading phase.
Execute external system integrations such as payment gateways connections.
Proper e-commerce functionality testing.
Kick-off the system into the PROD environment when the time has come to present the final delivery.
Implement secure technologies and procedures into the e-commerce platform.

Job Requirements

Your Qualification / Skills

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Information Technology
  • Have excellent communication skill in English.

Your Working Experience

  • Dedicated professional with 5+ years in e-commerce industry
  • 5+ years’ professional experience about trade and logistic regulations relevant to e-commerce and international shipments from Africa to Europe and USA
  • Previous working experience in Africa, preferable in Ethiopia
  • Have good experience in conducting capacity building training
