Job Description


World Vision Ethiopia began its first intervention in Ethiopia in 1971 with relief and opened the Ethiopia office in 1975. Relief, rehabilitation and small community development projects dominated the decade that followed. During the 1984/85 drought, World Vision Ethiopia participated in a massive relief operation that saved the lives of millions of people.

Responsibilities

  • Support emergency livelihood situation and recovery needs assessment in the affected population and compile the report and keep the report for CN and proposal development
  • Development of emergency Livelihood recovery concept notes and response project proposals to respond to the affected population.
  • Facilitate project launching and conduct regular monitoring and support to the project implementation, project monitoring and reviews with partners and take timely corrective measure on identified issues
  • Coordinate the procurement of emergency Livelihood, especially livestock inputs with procurement team at all level for timely procurement of inputs and health transportation to the project location.
  • Support project teams to produce quality project updates, monthly and terminal reports on timely basis, collect success stories, best practices, and quality pictures of the project implementation at timely manner and report to the emergency livelihood lead.
  • Support identification of input suppliers, handle the inspection of livestock inputs, restocking animals, forage/fodder seeds, veterinary pharmaceuticals and commodities, and support healthy storage and transportation to the target location.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Professional Experience

  • Previous work experience of at least 5 years in managing Livelihood/livestock/agriculture projects working in humanitarian response
  • Ability to write quality assessment and project reports and project proposal writing
  • Experience in an international NGO is preferred
  • Emergency response experience is an advantage

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

  • Education: MSc/BSC degree or DVM in animal science, veterinary medicine or related field of study
  • Certificates of training on the sector

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences
  • Effective facilitation, Strong presentation, reporting skills Knowledge management
  • Self-motivated with excellent organization, planning, and analytical skills –
  • Able to work without close supervision, including prioritizing work and multi-tasking.
  • Effective facilitation, report writing and knowledge management skill

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

The position requires a willingness to frequent travels to all humanitarian response operational areas.

Physical Requirements

The duty station of the post is based in World Vision Head Office and with frequent travel to emergency rural locations.
