Job Description


Mikyas Assefa Electrical works Contractor is an engineering firm based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Our company has a design build services in electrical and LV systems for building and industrial facilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Installation: Install electrical systems, including wiring, outlets, circuit breakers, and fixtures in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on electrical systems to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical problems using testing devices and tools, and develop solutions to restore proper functionality.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes and safety regulations.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of electrical systems.
  • Upgrades and Modifications: Upgrade existing electrical systems to improve safety and efficiency or to accommodate new equipment or technology.
  • Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide solutions, including cost estimates and project timelines.
  • Safety Practices: Follow safety protocols and best practices to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with other construction professionals, such as plumbers and builders, to coordinate projects and ensure smooth operations.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inspections completed, and submit reports as needed.
  • Training and Mentoring: Provide guidance and training to apprentices or less experienced electricians, sharing knowledge and skills to foster their development.

These responsibilities can vary based on the specific role, type of electrical work, and work environment.

About You

Education:  The position requires a minimum of TVET Level 3 or Level 4/Diploma

Career Level: Mid-Level (above 2 years)

Required Skills

  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding electrical systems, codes, and standards is crucial. Able to read and understand AutoCAD Electrical Drawings. Able to understand electrical Circuits, fire alarm systems, CCTV, Access Control and Control Boards
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and fix electrical issues efficiently.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision is key in wiring and installations to prevent hazards. Vigilant in fitting assembly for alignment and Aesthetic presentation.
  • Physical Stamina: The job often requires physical labor, including lifting and climbing.
  • Manual Dexterity: Skillful use of tools for wiring and repairs.
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols to protect one and others.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to explain technical information clearly to clients and team members.
  • Math Skills: Basic arithmetic and geometry for measuring and calculating loads.
  • Time Management: Efficiently managing time to meet deadlines and complete tasks.
  • Teamwork: Collaborating with other Colleagues and supervisors and contractors on larger projects.

N.B. Motorbike License is an advantage.
