Job Purpose

To maintain, troubleshoot and optimize the plant’s electrical systems, control panels, PLC/automation systems and instrumentation, ensuring reliable and safe plant operation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot plant electrical distribution systems, motors, starters, control panels and switchgear.
• Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot PLC/automation and control systems supporting the production process.
• Calibrate and maintain process instrumentation (sensors, transmitters, gauges) to ensure accurate readings.
• Respond promptly to electrical/automation breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance and inspection of electrical panels, cabling and control systems.
• Support installation, wiring and commissioning of new equipment, motors or control systems.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant electrical safety codes and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
• Maintain electrical maintenance records, wiring diagrams and control system documentation.
• Coordinate with the Mechanical Team on integrated equipment issues (e.g., motor/drive-train faults).

Support energy-efficiency and automation-improvement initiatives on the production line.

Skills and Competencies

• PLC programming/troubleshooting and basic SCADA/HMI familiarity.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and repair skills (low-voltage industrial systems).
• Instrumentation calibration and control-loop troubleshooting.
• Understanding of electrical safety standards and lock-out/tag-out practice.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs.

Working Conditions

• Plant-based role with exposure to live electrical panels and control systems, requiring strict adherence to electrical safety procedures and PPE use. May require availability for emergency call-outs.

Qualifications and Experience

• BSc or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation/Instrumentation Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5 years of industrial electrical/automation maintenance experience, preferably in a processing/manufacturing plant.
• Practical experience with PLCs, motor control centers and process instrumentation.
