Job Description


Founded in 1899, NABU (The Nature And Biodiversity Conservation Union) is the oldest and largest environment association in Germany. It encompasses more than 940,000 members and supporters, who commit themselves to the conservation of threatened habitats, flora, and fauna, to climate protection and energy policy. Since 2006 NABU has been working in Ethiopia towards conserving natural habitats, climate adaptation and mitigation and empowering people to conserve and manage their local resources. Jointly with the Ethiopian government and local communities, NABU turned two regions into UNESCO biosphere reserves.

Summary

We look forward to welcoming a motivated driver to our team to help drive positive changes. The driver will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth transportation of project staff, materials, and equipment to various locations within and outside of the project areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport project staff, materials, and equipment to designated locations within and outside of the project areas
  • Maintain the cleanliness and minor maintenance of the project vehicle
  • Assist with loading and unloading of materials and equipment as needed
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations
  • Provide logistical support for project activities as required
  • Provide a friendly and professional service, representing NABU Ethiopia.
  • Effectively communicate with passengers,
  • Maintain and report accurate log records of trips, mileage, and maintenance activities.
  • Keep a smooth relationship with staff for effective project implementation including having teamwork. a team spirit for
  • Coordinate with project staff and partners to understand transportation needs

Location: Mettu town, Illu Ababora zone, Oromia

Duration: ASAP to 31/05/2027

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (3rd grade or parallel grade).
  • Proven experience as a driver for more than 5 years, preferably in a project or fieldwork setting in a CSO environment
  • Familiarity with the local traffic laws and routes
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Basic proficiency in English and fluency in Afan Oromo
