Job Description


We are seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join our organization, All God’s Children International as a driver. The driver is responsible to provides vehicle driving services. He/she will be responsible for transporting staff members while prioritizing the safety and well-being of the children under our care. The role will directly contribute to our mission of providing care and support to vulnerable children and families. We are looking for a reliable and safety-conscious individual who can efficiently navigate various routes while maintaining a professional and compassionate behavior.  The position holder’s commitment to child protection and adherence to organization policies will be essential in carrying out your responsibilities, including the safe and responsible operation of the organization’s vehicles while strictly adhering to all traffic and safety regulations. In addition, he/she play a crucial role in supporting the organization’s operations by receiving AGCI guests from abroad at airport, transporting within the city and to field as required, delivering envelops, invitation cards, government reports, and any other important documents. He/she is also expected to have minor vehicles maintenance knowledge and skills.

Detailed responsibilities

  • Transport staff members, volunteers, clients, and donors to and from designated locations, ensuring a comfortable and professional experience.
  • Provides the picking up and dropping off donors and guests, providing a warm and welcoming environment during their interactions with the organization.
  • Assists schedules and logistics to ensure timely pickups and drop-offs for donors and guests.
  • Assist with loading and unloading luggage, equipment, and supplies, ensuring proper handling and securing of items.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and general upkeep of the assigned vehicle(s), including regular washing and scheduled maintenance.
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance and promptly report any mechanical issues or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Keep accurate records of vehicle usage, including mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance logs.
  • Ensure all necessary vehicle documents, such as registration, insurance, and permits, are up to date and available for inspection.
  • Adhere to the organization’s policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Prioritize the safety and well-being of passengers, following all safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous behavior when interacting with staff members, clients, donors, and guests.
  • Adapt to changing schedules and priorities, demonstrating flexibility and reliability.
  • Ensurethat basic toolkits are available in the vehicle
  • Ensure that the first aid kit is well equipped and easily accessible for use
  • Ensure that the step required by the local rules regulation and the organization are taken in case of involvement in an accident
  • Responsible for preparing monthly activity, fuel consumption and expenditure report and presenting these to supervisor every month
  • Familiarity of navigation within Addis Ababa with strong knowledge of routes nd sub-city’s location
  • Adheres and abides to all child protection policy within the organization
  • Exemplifies collaborative trust based and relational team environment with a spirit of cooperation and humility. Open to various level of support for the organization to move the mission and purpose forward
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or management to support the organization’s mission.

Position requires the successful completion of an extensive criminal background check.

About You

Qualifications

  • Graduate of high school with diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid 3rd grade driver’s license.
  • Proven experience as a driver, preferably in an international NGO set up.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience in driving, with at least 3 years in NGO setting.

Skills:

  • Field long distance driving experiences and excellent driving skills and a strong focus on safety.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Amharic languages.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting and carrying.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and priorities.
  • Having auto mechanical Knowledge and basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting experiences.
  • Sensitivity and commitment to child protection and ensuring the safety and well-being of children.

Working Conditions:

  • The role requires working flexible hours, including night, weekends, and holidays, as necessary to meet the needs of the reunification home.
  • Ability to handle physically and emotionally challenging situations, including lifting, bending, and providing direct care to children as needed.
