Job Description


Brief Organizational Introduction and Project Overview:

REACH Ethiopia is a nonprofit organization registered as an Ethiopian Residents Charity, dedicated to community development through innovative projects. Since 2013, it has implemented community-based TB care and integrated health service projects in Sidama, Central Ethiopia, South Ethiopia, Tigray, parts of Oromia and Afar Regions. Currently, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Regional Health Bureaus, REACH Ethiopia is implementing various projects including new project called USAID- Urban TB LON-II.

The USAID URBAN TB LON II Project is an ambitious initiative aimed at addressing the urban tuberculosis (TB) challenge in Ethiopia. Focused on the city administrations of Addis Ababa, Shaggar, Harar, and Diredawa, the project’s primary goals include identifying missed TB cases, delivering patient-centered care, and fostering innovative solutions to combat TB. This project is pivotal in enhancing TB detection and treatment, with an overarching aim to reduce TB prevalence and mortality in urban environments.

Position Summary: The Driver and Cashier  will provide transportation support to project staff for project-related activities. The Driver and Cashier  maintains project vehicles and log of vehicle use, cleans and follow up on vehicles services timeframe for the wellbeing of the vehicles in conformity with REACH Ethiopia’s Safety and Security Policies.

Essential Functions

  • Driving, maintaining and servicing the project vehicles in keeping with the highest safety standards.
  • Ensuring proper long-term and day-to-day maintenance of all vehicles, including checking oil and other fluids, battery, brakes, tires, and other critical equipment.
  • Performing pick-ups, deliveries, repairs and makes purchases of office supplies as directed by supervisor.
  • Keeping log of vehicle use, maintenance, and service.
  • Greeting and directing visitors.
  • Arranging for the collection and delivery of mail or documents, as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned by superiors within the driver’s capacity.

Project: USAID URBAN TB LON II Activity-SWIF TB Initiative

Reports to: USAID URBAN TB LON II Activity-SWIF TB Initiative-Logistics manager

Location: Borena Zone, East Borena Zone, Guji Zone, West Guji Zone, Gurage Zone and Various Sidama Zones.

Contract Term: Full time Position, Fixed Term Contract

No. of Positions: 01 per zone

Salary Scale: As per the scale of the organization

About You

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma is required.
  • At least three years of prior experience as a driver is required.
  • NGO experience is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision.
  • Computer literate and basic skills and qualification in motor mechanics are added advantage.
  • Proven punctuality and ability to work as part of a team and excellent references a must.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
  • Display cultural, gender, religion and age sensitivity and adaptability
