Job Description


Job Goals

To quickly and responsibly build a profitable and sustainable e-commerce business that will compete effectively with similar stores in its market as well as compete with global e-commerce companies like Amazon, eBay, and other marketplaces.

Key Responsibilities Required

Corporate Management Accountabilities:

  • Work with the Chief Executive Officer to design, plan and implement the mission, values and strategic plans for the organisation both corporately and on behalf of shareholders. Lead specific projects on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, as directed.
  • Ensure strategy is effectively translated into organisational and team objectives and resources are appropriately allocated against priority outcomes.
  • Monitor organisational performance by tracking progress and ensuring delivery of plans. Scan both the external and internal environment to ensure the leadership team is aware of changes that may affect performance/services. Take immediate and considered corrective action to resolve serious issues
  • Support the Chief Executive Officer to drive significant change through the organisation and in our work with shareholders, partners and stakeholders.
  • Advise the Chief Executive Officer and Ashewa Technology Solution SC Board on the status of delivery of corporate and strategic plans.
  • Identify opportunities where the organisation can make the maximum contribution to shareholders by cross-referral of services or where there are gaps in company services offered.
  • Functional Accountabilities:
  • 7. Lead, develop and manage the implementation of Ashewa Technology Solution SC’S strategy for engagement with key stakeholders, directing a team of department managers to ensure that:
  • Close contact with every department manager is achieved and maintained;
  • manager’s needs are well understood and translated to inform the development of company policy.
  • Work with the relevant department managers of Ashewa Technology Solution SC Board to provide strategic oversight, directing a team of staff and relevant service suppliers to provide company recommendations on employment (pay/terms and conditions) and employment law advice.
  • Provide strategic oversight of Ashewa Technology Solution SC’s E-commerce services, directing relevant staff to work with the government, interested and relevant groups to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of a successful and coherent e-commerce services.
  • Line manage and support the Head of e-commerce to lead, develop and manage the implementation of e-commerce strategy for the Ashewa Technology Solution SC , providing strategic direction to ensure Ashewa Technology Solution SC brand is consistent across the country.
  • Create, foster and manage effective relationships with Ashewa Technology Solution SC department heads, ensuring the highest standards of customer service are maintained and acting as conduit for the two-way flow of information.
  • Represent and promote the interests of Ashewa Technology Solution SC shareholders and the further e-commerce sector for the benefit of customers. This includes representing Ashewa Technology Solution SC on various high level boards, working groups, advisory groups etc at country level.
  • Write timely, accurate and informative communications for Ashewa Technology Solution SC publications, including electronic briefings, website content, blogs and other channels, to communicate important developments and Ashewa Technology Solution SC activities.
  • Act as a spokesperson for Ashewa Technology Solution SC and its shareholders, contributing as required to engagements with the media, national and regional events.
  • Carry out other duties within the scope of the role as directed by the Chief Executive.

Job Requirement

Required education: BA or MBA degree from recognized university /college in information technology, business information systems or management information systems

Required: Experiences

  • Minimum 10 years in e-commerce management, digital marketing, and developing and implementing successful business strategies or
  • Minimum 10 years with brand and merchandising management, and in managing a online web development or systems environment

Knowledge Skills and Experience

  • Experience of high-level management decision making e.g. at Board/strategic level
  • Experience of leading, managing and developing employees effectively
  • Well-developed customer relationship management skills
  • Familiar with Ethiopian customs, taxation systems
  • Capacity to accommodate and prioritise a variety of complex tasks and initiatives at any one time, and work effectively under pressure
