Job Description


Job summary

The high-caliber candidate selected for this position will lead this innovative community-led stove adoption program in South Gonder Zone.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the overall planning and direction of the community-led stove adoption program at field level
  • Strengthen the capacity of stove producers enterprise for the continued supply of stoves
  • Search for available markets to identify Tikikil and Mirt Stove for fair price to control cost of production
  • Lead the replacement of stove parts when request from community as per the developed mechanisms
  • Actively participate and facilitate in the selection of new kebeles for pilot project activities based on the criteria’s developed
  • Aware and organize communities in the selected kebeles for new triggering actions for CLT-Stoves approach
  • Participate in the screening process with community representatives to identify eligible/ selected beneficiaries fund contribution for the purchase of both Mirt and Tikikil stoves
  • Organize training session for extension service agents, local government experts and communities for further support and facilitation and demonstrate in the open market the triggering approach and climate mitigation action
  • Ensure that beneficiaries practically use the distributed ICSs at household level through establishing controlling mechanism
  • Ensure Villages are free from Sost Gulischa for further celebration
  • Ensure the demonstration of CLT-Stoves approach for promotion and scaling up of ICS and draw lessons, document findings for further program development
  • Lead, conduct and have proper document different surveys and assessment at project level
  • Perform similar activities as assigned by the immediate supervisors

Job Requirement

Required Education and Experience

  • BA/BSc or MA/MSc from recognized college/ University in social science or Natural Science (NRM, Forestry, Alternative Energy)

Skill and Competence

  • Coordination , leading and facilitation capacity with partners and stakeholders
  • At least three years direct work experience on Rural alternative energy
  • Extensive social science experience, preferably working with rural communities
  • Experience working in the NGO development sector (more advantageous)

Desirable:

  • Experience working with a wide variety of stakeholders or partners
  • Previous work experience in forestry and land use, climate change, environment, natural resource management
  • Terms of Employment:  Contract for one year and based on performance will be renewable per annum
