Job Description


Job position summary:

Under the direct supervision of the APCfC Consortium lead, the Community Facilitators are responsible for community mobilization and coordination, engaging target communities, women’s groups, and youth groups to ensure the smooth delivery of the project in selected kebeles of Moyale, Woreda, Dawa zone.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning, implementation and reviewing of project scopes of work, training programs and awareness-raising sessions.
  • In close collaboration with Government Stakeholders, coordinate targeting and establishment/revitalization of the Local Peace committee, Women Social Forum and youth school peace clubs from across the project target kebeles.
  • Support facilitation of training and intra and inter-community peace dialogues and workshops.
  • Conduct awareness-raising and sensitization sessions for Customary leaders, elders and community representatives on the importance and benefits of Women’s engagement and participation in local Peace building and conflict transformation efforts.
  • Provide regular support to the Project target Women, youth and local peace committee through their regular meetings.
  • Support coaching and cascading of the skills obtained through the training provided by the project and facilitate household-level THM exercise and review activities in project target kebeles.
  • Carrying out other appropriate activities that will contribute to project success, as requested by the Consortium Lead.

Required number: 2 (two)

Duty Station: Project target kebeles in Moyale Woreda.

Terms of Employment: One year, Full-time.

Basic Salary: As per the organizational scale

Reports To: Project Officer

About You

Education and Work Experience Required:

  • Degree/Diploma in Social Sciences, gender studies, sociology, Education, development studies or related fields.
  • At least 3-5 years of work experience as a Community Mobiliser, Gender and Peace Building Officer or Field Officer on Gender, Women Empowerment or Peace Building Project or Programme.
  • Additional certification/training on Peace Building, Community Mobilization/engagement and Women Empowerment and related areas is an additional asset.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge of Peace Building and Conflict Transformation, Women Empowerment and Community engagement-related project management.
  • Understanding and practical experience in community Mobilization, dialogue facilitation Training facilitation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to effectively engage and work with community and community leaders and elders.
  • Knowledge of culture, norms, local language and belief and geographical areas of the target Woreda is an asset.
  • Good understanding of Women’s Empowerment and cultural problems and issues in pastoralist settings and
