Integrated Service on Health and Development Organization (ISHDO) is registered non-governmental organization. Integrated Service on Health and Development Organization (ISHDO) is registered non-governmental organization. It was established in 1997 as local NGO. It has been funded by different Donors and implement different projects. Currently there are 2 major projects on HIV Prevention Care and treatment. Among these, one is USAID Family Focused HIV prevention Care and Treatment Activity.

Job summary

Under the supervision of care and support officer, the Community Engagement Facilitator is responsible to facilitate HIV testing; care and treatment activities in close collaboration with caseworkers in the catchment and surrounding area. CEF closely work with the catchment woreda health facilities to follow-up linkage, loss to follow-up and adherence to treatment services

Detail Job responsibilities

He/she will be responsible to

  • Conduct community-based HIV testing based on clients’ preference including assisted HIV self-test for eligible clients at community
  • Facilitate recruit and enrollment of CHCT/OVC priority populations for care and support along with case workers.
  • Train, supervise, and mentor case workers to ensure effective ICT/PNS and priority populations have individualized care plan and get comprehensive package of quality services.
  • Ensure enrolled PLHIV have a viral load test and those who have unsuppressed viral load, poor adherence to treatment or are lost to follow-up are provided services to address their treatment barrier
  • Serve as a focal person in strengthening the bidirectional referral linkage between facility and community and the seamless movement of clients among various intervention points within a community.
  • Work closely with health facilities, households, community and government platforms like CC, CCC, HEW, HDA, PLHIV association, civic society organizations (CSOs), religious leaders and government structures to reduce incidence of lost to follow-up and improve clinical, social and economic outcomes of PLHIV.
  • Enter referral related client level data collected by case workers through paper-based system into electronic data capturing system (Commcare).
  • Responsible for the safety and security of client level data.
  • Submit program report to area health office and supervisor.
  •  Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Job Requirements

Required education and experiences

  • BSc or Diploma in Nursing
  •  A minimum of (4 years for Diploma and 2 years for BSC) (preferably in NGO) with similar position.

Personal Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and Communication skills
  • HIV Self-test and HIV testing training on new national algorism.
  • COC Certificate for level IV applicants.
  • Professional registration and license from concerned health office
  • Basic (spoken and written) skills in English, Amharic and Oromiffa is a requirement
  • Ability to Coordinate and Support volunteers working in the community
  •  Demonstrated Knowledge and Skill in HIV Counseling and testing; on PITC and ICT.
