Job Description


World Vision Ethiopia began its first intervention in Ethiopia in 1971 with relief and opened the Ethiopia office in 1975. Relief, rehabilitation and small community development projects dominated the decade that followed. During the 1984/85 drought, World Vision Ethiopia participated in a massive relief operation that saved the lives of millions of people.

Major Responsibility

Purpose of this role is to enable project activities implementation at field level for landscape restoration and livelihood intervention objectives effectively achieved at grassroots level in collaboration with district and village level stakeholders.

  • Identify and delineate degraded communal lands for restoration intervention in collaboration with local administration and community leaders under project officer technical supervision.
  • Identify and register vulnerable community groups/beneficiaries for communal land restoration and targeted livelihood interventions in participatory approach with local administrations and community leaders.
  • Follow up and support fruit and multi-purpose tree seedlings production in government, group and individual nurseries, provide technical assistance in transportation to plantation sites and finally perform plantations through community mobilization.
  • Assist and support project officer and government experts in qualitative and quantitative baseline and end line data collection and encoding for analysis. Assist project officer in community and stakeholders capacity building trainings.
  • Provide technical support to the community in course of degraded landscape restoration activities implementation and livelihood options inaction. Conduct periodic progress assessments and Identify gabs and report to the project officer and community taskforces and seeking for timely solutions.
  • Provide continues follow up on communal sites under restoration progresses and agroforestry plots at private farmstead, mobilize community for, SWC, fruit/tree Plantation, silviculcultural management and FMNR practices on the spot.

Requirements

Qualification required: Completed TVET level III in NRM, Forestry, Community development, cooperatives and related.

Experience:

  •  years’ experience on field level implementation of Landscape Restoration, Agroforestry, FMNR, livelihood, organizing community, field data collection and etc. in rural Context.
  • Specific working experience on Community workers/facilitator is advantageous.

Work environment:  100% field

Language : Knowledge of working are primary language preferred.
