Job Description


Organic Liquid Fertilizer Producing PLC (known by the trade name ‘Eco Green’) is a legal entity registered in 2008 in accordance with Commercial Registration and Business License Proclamation number 980/2008 of the FDRE. As the name indicates, the Company produces 100% ORGANIC Liquid Fertilizer which is rich in microbes, improves soil fertility, increases the productivity and quality of the crop, and significantly cuts fertilizer costs. It has been bestowed different national and international awards including, but not limited to, “Prestigious Science Innovation Award in 2007 E.C.” from the hands of the former FDRE Prime Minister H/Mariam Desalegn, “Climate Innovation Prize in 2009 E.C” from Ethiopian Climate Innovation Centre, and “The Best Entrepreneurship of the year Award in 2015 G.C.” from UNDP.

Summary:

The Community Based Facilitators (CBFs) – Agriculture – is responsible for mapping, verification and linkage of project beneficiaries. Report implementation challenges, successes, lessons learned, implement agreed actions with beneficiaries and ensure uptake and use of knowledge and skills by the beneficiaries.

The successful applicant will be responsible for co-ordinating the ECOGREEN project in its respective national regional states Agriculture Bureaus, Zones, Woreda or Kebele. Participate to implementation of agriculture and food security intervention in general and organic fertilizer production and distribution intervention to target beneficiaries, farmers, agro-dealers, agricultural one-stop-shopping (AOSS) etc. in particular. Organize, mobilize and facilitate on implementation of activities with beneficiaries/communities and other stakeholders. The CBF is/are expected to represent us in key events of their respective destination states. The role has a strong focus on ensuring an impactful approach to realize the project goals.

Roles and Responsibilities

Role 1: Participate actively in implementation of Eco-Green project activities

  • Participate in implementation of project’s activities according project expected results
  • Contribute in planning of project’s activities base on lifespan of the project
  • Propose solution and improvement concerning the project progress
  • Ensure follow-up of project progress and write suitable report
  • Coordinate activities and sensitize local partners
  • Identify and inform project’s head if any challenges and problems encountered
  • Facilitate and participate on project base line and end line survey.
  • Support on facilitation of the project.

Role 2: Organize/facilitate the registration, verification, mobilization of project beneficiaries and engage on monitoring of the subsequent meetings with the community and other stakeholders.

  • Organize and facilitate meetings on discuss and presentation of project activities with beneficiaries communities, with support of field officers
  • Participate in identification/selection of target beneficiaries per the criteria.
  • Involve actively in selection of community committee/beneficiaries committee
  • Participate in the training of community committee for beneficiaries selection criteria
  • Create direct linkage between beneficiaries and Eco-Green.
  • Work with relevant actors to ensure accountability and transparency in the course of the implementation of the project activities.

Role 3: Represent Eco-Green when dealing with partners:

  • Analyze and build on experience in order to share the lesson learnt
  • Explain the project’s activities and objectives to the partners and the population
  • Act link between Eco-Green and beneficiaries
  • Understanding of Social Media tools
  • Self-driven with a high sense of creativity, quality, accuracy, efficiency and meeting tight deadlines
  • Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needsDepartmental management
  • Provide guidance and support to Eco-Green staff and partners
  • Ensure that policies and procedures are applied
  • Ensure that the action plan and budget are on track
  • Work in collaboration with finance, marketing & sales, research & development, production, procurement & logistics, IT departments of the organization
  • Perform other duties given by line manager / project coordinator/s

Employment Type: 1 Year Contract with possibility of extension

Job Requirements

Educational Qualifications: Minimum Diploma/TVET/Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant Science, Rural development, food security, and other related fields)

Experience and Skills : Minimum of 2 years of work experience on community mobilization

Required skills:

  • Relevant training and/or work experience in field of agriculture/rural development/food security
  • Minimum of 2 years work-related experience (in the fields of food security, livelihoods, community development) is an asset.
  • Good analytical capacity
  • Good human relation- team spirit- Autonomy
  • Good knowledge of the intervention areas, local language and culture
  • Strong computer skills, including sound knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Fluency in oral and written Amharic and English for all; in addition, Oromiffa and Sidamgna is mandatory for Oromia and Sidama National Regional States
