Commercial Manager at Tal flowers PLC

Reports To: Managing Director

Department: Commercial (Import & export , Procurement, Sales & Marketing)

Location: CMC – Near St. Michael Church, Addis Ababa

Key Responsibilities:

1. Import & Export Management:

  • Global Trade Compliance:
    • Ensure all import/export activities comply with relevant international trade regulations, customs requirements, and export control laws (e.g., tariffs, duties, restrictions).
    • Manage the preparation and submission of all import/export documentation, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
    • Monitor and address any potential delays in the customs process, ensuring shipments reach their destination without unnecessary cost or delay.
  • Supplier & Vendor Coordination:
    • Develop and maintain relationships with international suppliers and vendors to ensure smooth and cost-effective import/export operations.
    • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with international suppliers to secure competitive prices and favorable delivery terms.

2. Procurement Management:

  • Supplier Management:
    • Develop and manage relationships with key suppliers, negotiating terms and securing favorable contracts.
    • Conduct supplier performance reviews and maintain effective communication to ensure service quality and reliability.
    • Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet organizational goals, focusing on cost reduction and supply chain optimization.
    • Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and alternative sources of supply.
    • Ensure procurement practices comply with relevant laws, ethical standards, and company policies.
    • Oversee inventory levels, ensuring the right balance between supply and demand.
    • Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to ensure efficient stock control and delivery.
    • Regularly assess stock usage and adjust procurement plans to avoid excess inventory or stock outs.

3. Sales Management:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets.
  • Monitor sales performance, analyze trends, and provide insights to senior management for continuous improvement.
  • Lead the sales team, setting clear performance expectations and guiding them to achieve sales goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders, understanding their needs and expectations.
  • Negotiate and close high-value contracts while maximizing profitability for the company.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by monitoring post-sale service and addressing any issues promptly.
  • Identify and evaluate new sales opportunities in existing and new markets, driving business growth.
  • Lead the efforts in exploring partnerships and joint ventures to expand market presence.
About You

Skills and Qualifications:

1. Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Marketing Management, Business Management, Economics or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree (MBA) or relevant professional certifications in Market research Procurement and Sales is preferred.

2. Experience:

  • Minimum 8-12 years of experience in commercial management, procurement, sales, or market research, preferably within a relevant industry.
  • Strong experience in managing procurement processes, sales strategy, and market research.
  • Proven success in driving revenue, managing supplier relationships, and leading teams to meet strategic objectives.
