Job Description


Wako Gutu Foundation (WGF) is a national non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian and development organization established in 2006 G.C with overall objective of promoting inclusion of pastoral and agro-pastoral communities with the Civil Societies’ proclamation Number 1113/2019 bearing a registration number 0457.The foundation strives to improve the livelihoods of the poor and vulnerable pastoral and agro-pastoral communities using integrated and holistic approach to bring change in the food and nutrition security, Women and youth Economic Empowerment, Humanitarian Emergency Response, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Peace building and social reconciliation and Digital technology for Development.

Summary

We are currently seeking applications from qualified and motivated individuals to join our dedicated team in the following position:

Major Responsibility:

Cleaners Duties

  • General Cleaning: Perform general cleaning tasks to maintain cleanliness and tidiness throughout the office premises. This may include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and wiping surfaces.
  • Waste Management: Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables from designated areas. Ensure proper separation and disposal of waste according to established guidelines.
  • Restroom Cleaning: Clean and sanitize restroom facilities, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors. Restock restroom supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
  • Surface Disinfection: Disinfect high-touch surfaces regularly, including doorknobs, light switches, countertops, and shared equipment. Follow appropriate cleaning protocols to maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Window and Glass Cleaning: Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors to maintain a clear and streak-free appearance.
  • Floor Care: Maintain the cleanliness of floors by sweeping, mopping, and/or vacuuming as needed. Follow specific floor care procedures, such as using appropriate cleaning solutions or operating floor cleaning equipment.
  • Furniture and Fixture Cleaning: Dust and wipe down office furniture, desks, chairs, shelves, and other fixtures to maintain a clean and presentable appearance.
  • Carpet Care: Vacuum and spot clean carpets and rugs to remove dirt and stains. Coordinate with professional carpet cleaners for deep cleaning when necessary.
  • Supply Restocking: Monitor and restock cleaning supplies, including toilet paper, hand soap, paper towels, and other consumables. Inform the appropriate department when supplies are running low.
  • Maintenance Reporting: Report any maintenance issues, damages, or repairs required in the office premises to the designated personnel or department.
  • Special Cleaning Tasks: Perform periodic deep cleaning tasks, such as cleaning light fixtures, vents, baseboards, or other hard-to-reach areas.
  • Coordinate with the appropriate department or external service providers for specialized cleaning needs.

Messenger Duties

  • Delivery and Distribution: Collect and deliver mail, packages, documents, or other materials within the office premises or to external locations as instructed. Ensure timely and accurate delivery to the intended recipients.
  • Mail Sorting and Preparation: Sort incoming mail, packages, or interoffice correspondence for distribution to the appropriate departments or individuals. Prepare outgoing mail, packages, or shipments by packaging them securely and applying proper postage or shipping labels.
  • Document Handling: Handle sensitive or confidential documents with care and maintain their confidentiality. Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for tracking purposes.
  • Office Supply Management: Assist with monitoring and maintaining office supplies inventory. Notify the appropriate department or individual when supplies are running low and assist with restocking as needed.
  • Safety and Security: Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and procedures during messenger activities. Maintain security measures to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information or materials.

Job duration: One year contract with possibility of extension after probation period

Reports to: HR & Admin section

Job Requirements

Educational Background and Work Experience: Grade 10th, 12th at least 2 years for 10th Grade and 1 year for 12th Grade experience.

Desirable skills:

  • Excellent organization and housekeeping skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • In-depth knowledge of cleaning solution and their uses
  • Fluency in Writing and Speaking Afan Oromo ; Writing and speaking
  • Amharic is advantageous.
