Job Description


Title: Child Protection Information Management System Officer

Location: Dima, Ethiopia

Employment Category: H2

Reporting To: CP/ECCD Team Leader

Start of Contract & Duration:  Two months

INTRODUCTION

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), an international non-governmental organization (NGO), has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. DRC promotes and supports solutions to the problems faced by refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and migrants. The organization has offices across the region, and has been operational in Ethiopia since 2009.  With funding from bilateral and multilateral donors, DRC is currently implementing a range of activities across Ethiopia and Djibouti, including WASH and shelter provision, child and youth protection, Gender based violence response, awareness-raising of migration risks, protection monitoring of migration routes, and livelihoods support for returning migrants or those at-risk of migration.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: 

Under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader (CP/ECCD), the Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS) Officer will be responsible for information management of all CP case management files, including input to the inter-agency CPIMS+ system, according to the protocol, as well as supporting on internal data management and monitoring.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Enter all case management forms into the inter-agency child protection database (CPIMS+) in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ensure efficient data capture process and generate regular reports on case load and monitoring statistics for the Protection Team Leader or other partners, when required
  • Review case load and monitoring statistics, including setting targets for case follow-ups and closure, as well as identifying gaps
  • Maintain an appropriate filing system for received, open, and closed cases as received from Case Management Officers
  • Develop and implement internal databases to monitor cases, referrals, and CP activities, in coordination with MEAL team
  • Implement the Data Protection Policy and appropriate standards for confidentiality, in line with DRC SoPs
  • Provide training and technical support to CP Officers and caseworkers on CPIMS+

Job Requirements

Experience and Technical Competencies: (include years of experience)

  • Previous experience with database and information management systems, preferably in a humanitarian context
  • Experience of implementing Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS) or related IMS
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in child protection, GBV, protection, or related field
  • Experience working with non-governmental organizations preferred
  • Good communication skills and ability to conduct training on child protection and information management systems
  • Demonstrated understanding of gender, protection, and human rights

Education (include certificates, licenses etc.):

  • Minimum university degree in Information Management Systems, Statistics, of related field
  • Preferred: previous training on CPIMS+

Languages: (indicate fluency level)

  • Excellent verbal and written proficiency in Amharic and English;
  • Proficiency in local languages, such as Anuak or Murle will be an advantage
