Job Description


Webuild, Salini Impregilo’s new name, is an industrial Group specialized in the construction of large works and large complex infrastructure for the sustainable mobility, clean hydro energy, clean water and green buildings sectors.

The resource, in addition to the RSPP tasks, will support the HSE Manager in implementing the project’s Safety Management System (SGS), as per contractual requirements and company standards.

About Job

Directly, and hierarchically depending from the Plant Manager, the Chief Mechanic organizes, coordinates and supervises the activity of a (mechanical) workshop, with the responsibility of overseeing the efficiency and safety of the machinery and equipment (both owned and rented), while also ensuring the implementation of production programmes established in terms of quantity, quality, cost and service level objectives. The resource will coordinate all mobile equipment repair and maintenance work. In particular, the Chief Mechanic deals with various equipment: heavy equipment (excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, dumpers, etc.) lifting (cranes, forklifts), trucks (concrete mixers, mobile cranes, trucks for general services), vehicles and underground equipment (jumbo, track drills, mine dumpers, shotcrete equipment, etc.) and special equipment too.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

  • Taking care of the activities for creating and implementing production programmes;
  • Verifying and guaranteeing full compliance with processing times and methods, also carrying out continuous monitoring;
  • Monitoring activity times and methods to optimize resource usage;
  • Proposing possible solutions regarding production capacity/efficiency, to improve the production cycle;
  • Ensuring company standards, procedures and fulfilments with regard to quality and certifications, also defining improvement actions.
  • Planning and coordinating maintenance and control activities and periodic legal checks;
  • Defining the minimum stocks of spare parts and wear, also ensuring their presence in the workshop, with the obligation to report to one’s direct superior with regard to any critical issues detected in the supply;
  • Planning the supply of spare parts and wear needed for regular operation;
  • Managing and organizing the personnel assigned to the mechanical workshop, on site, and the activities of the external services/workshops in charge;
  • Supporting the Plant Manager in managing open contracts for the supply of spare parts/materials and external services, directly contacting the companies in charge, also promptly and constantly reporting everything to the Plant Manager;
  • Supporting the Plant Manager in taking care of the documentary archive of machinery and systems (including overall certifications, usage and maintenance manuals, registration papers, reports put into service, etc.), obtaining this documentation from suppliers;
  • Supporting the Plant Manager in updating the control and maintenance records, providing all the necessary data;
  • Supporting the Plant Manager in activities regarding the administrative management of vehicles (tachograph cards, MCTC reviews, insurance coverage checks, etc.);
  • Constantly monitoring the status of equipment and systems, drafting specific control reports;
  • Supervising the correct use of machinery and equipment, while reporting to the Site Manager any evidence of any inadequate management, for adopting consequent measures;
  • Ensuring that ropes, slings and accessories pertaining to the lifting equipment are subject to regular periodic checks;

IDEAL PROFILE

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the role
  • Experience in Large Projects
  • Good English knowledge
  • Mechanical Expert Diploma and/or Degree in Mechanical Engineering with an excellent CV or an equivalent cultural knowledge;
  • Excellent knowledge of turned, milled, rectified products and heat or galvanic treatments; knowledge of CNC machines;
  • Capable and accustomed to managing and coordinating a work team;
  • Strong consolidated capacity for planning, interpreting external and internal needs, and redefining priorities;
  • Excellent interpersonal (at heterogeneous levels), communication and organizational skills; used to working both independently and in a team.

While carrying out duties, the Chief Mechanic will also have to put in place, when organizing all relevant executing works, what is required for fully, rigorously and totally complying with all provisions in force, regarding:

  1. Accident prevention safety, and compliance with all rules for protecting hygiene and health at work, in particular by adopting all appropriate preventive measures, even in an emergency;
  2. Environmental and landscape safety to protect specific risks, adopting any required preventive and emergency measures;
