Job Description


Reach The Needy – Ethiopia (RTN-Ethiopia)  is a child focused community based, not for profit, non-religious and discrimination free indigenous humanitarian national organization that exists to help the Deprived, Excluded and Vulnerable children  become productive, confident and responsible citizens, parents and leaders of tomorrow that directly involve and contribute for the development of the country. RTN has been working different development & humanitarian programs in partnership with ChildFund and CARE Ethiopia.

Therefore, we would like to invite interested and qualified applicants for the following post.

Position Summary:

The Cashier is responsible for the overall Cash & Document management of RTN & also supports the Accountant and Finance & Admin Head with the appropriate systems and procedures in (cash management, Documentation, Advance, Register, Reconciliation of Petty Cash, Procurement (vendor) payment, Voucher, Planning for her/his position, Settlements of Gov’t Tax’s, Audit Facilitation, Professional Ethics & Care) to properly disburse and account for project funds which are cost effective, timely, have proper internal controls and comply with the terms of the agreement.

Overall the position holder is responsible for the Professional & Ethical Handling of the organizations scarce resource & proper documentation for reliable financial information and communicates to the immediate supervisor in a timely fashion.

 

BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare receipt vouchers and collect cash and/or cheque from various sources and organizations and deposit intact in to the organization’s Bank accounts.
  • Check all financial documents are reviewed and approved with appropriate template before payments are effected;
  • Processes and pays approved petty cash requests & Stamp as PAID;
  • Collects cash out standing /advance from staff and deposits in the bank immediately;
  • Prepares petty cash replenishment summary for a replenishment request to Accountant
  • Sends payroll & Transfer letters to the bank & collect the necessary bank advice on time;
  • Provides important documents and information to Accountant for report preparation;
  • Effects training payments by collecting letter of participation and Attendance from program staffs and prepared payment sheets from Accountant;
  • Make other payments by reviewing the supporting and source documents as per the RTN’s finance policy and procedures;
  • Payment of Hotel Rent & Refreshment with due consideration to Withholding Tax Deduction;
  • Support the Accountant and Finance & Admin Head in Audit Facilitation;
  • Reports all cash shortage/ overage and all unpaid vouchers of more than reasonable time;
  • Ensure that all collections and payments are done against serially pre-numbered cash receipt and cash payment vouchers.
  • Perform all other duties related to the position and assists the Accountant in his/her daily routine.

 

Skills and personal attributes: Strong knowledge of computer applications (Excel, Word, and other application), good understanding of financial principles, petty cash handling, record keeping country’s personnel law, Good command of English and Amharic languages. High level of initiative taking.

 

Terms of employment: One year Contract with the possibility of extension based on availability of fund and work performance.

 

Language ability: Good communication skill in Amharic & English. Gedeuffa language is advantageous

 

Salary: As per the organization scale.

 

Place of work: RTN Coordination office in Dilla town, Gedeo Zone, SNNPR

About You

Education Qualification:

  • BA in Accounting or Finance from recognized College or University + 3 years’ work experience. NGO experience is preferable
