Job Description


The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) invites qualified candidates to apply for the Cashier position:

Directorate/Office: Finance and Admin Directorate

Unit: Financial Management Unit

Reports To: Head, Finance

Location/Placement: Addis Ababa

Job Grade: 6

Job Category: semi-Professional

Duration: Up to July 30, 2025 (with possible extension)

II. Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to manage petty cash, ensure payment instructions are signed by authorized personnel, collect cash, issue receipts, and reconcile petty cash records according to EPHA procedures.

III. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive cash and cheques and issue pre-numbered Cash Receipt Vouchers.
  • Deposit collected funds intact into the bank and submit receipt and bank deposit slip to the accounts.
  • Maintain a petty cash register and make payments according to signed payment orders.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of petty cash payment vouchers and supporting documents.
  • Follow up on temporary advance payments, ensuring they are settled and reported in the records.
  • Reconcile the cash balance with records and clear all advances taken by staff.
  • Request replenishment of petty cash when the balance reaches the minimum limit.
  • Produce a petty cash replenishment report for review.
  • Maintain organized records of all cash transactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
About You

IV. Job Specification

Education:

  • BA/BSc Degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, or a related field with up to one year of relevant work experience, OR
  • TVET Level IV completion in Accounting, Banking & Insurance with 7+ years of relevant work experience.

Required Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in basic accounting principles and petty cash management.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions responsibly.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with others.
  • Familiarity with EPHA’s financial policies and procedures.
