Background

R&D Group is a diverse and fast-growing entity with over 110 staff. Since its inception in 2010, the company is specialized in impact Outsourcing, Training, Consultancy and private sector development. The Training and Consultancy department delivers cutting edge talent development and advisory services through its standard and tailor made modules and programs.

Who are you going to be?

The Business Development manager is expected to lead the consultancy and training department to the next level. He/she will work to improve an organization’s market position and achieve financial growth. This person defines long-term organizational strategic goals, builds key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, negotiates and closes business deals and maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions. He/she will be responsible for building own record of new businesses and maintaining a high level of customer service to the identified clientele. He/she should be performance driven and entrepreneurial sales professional with an experience of HR consultancy and professional training industry in or outside of Ethiopia. He/she is an exceptional communicator with demonstrated success in building relationships with senior managers of target accounts and other relevant stakeholders.

What is your role?

  • Develop programs & services that will support startup & Small & Medium Enterprises in Ethiopia.
  • Help design new products to serve existing and potential clients
  • Manage and build external relationship and strategic alliances with stakeholders.
  • Source, evaluate market information to help improve service offerings
  • Increasing the value of current customers while attracting new ones.
  • Develop strategies to recruit, engage and maintain relationships with different stakeholders, including experts, coaches, consultants, and trainers
  • Set goals and develop/implement a short and long-term forecast and an action plan;
  • Develop project documents, including but not limited to bid documents and expression of interests
  • Identify the competitive service strengths and weaknesses of the company and develop recommendations for continuous improvement to stay relevant in the market
  • Develop corporate marketing strategy (product, price, promotion (branding and positioning) and sales strategy)
  • Coordinate with Marketing department to develop sales presentations, writing sales propositions, implementing, creating and adding to existing marketing materials.
  • Develop young successors and future leaders for the department and the organization.
  • Working hours: 40 hours

Job Requirements

Specific skills:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Management, Marketing, Business Administration, Communication, Social Science and related fields
  • Experience level: 10+ years relevant work experience, with a 3+ years in management
  • 5+ years experience in training and consultancy program design and private sector development.
  • Strong decision-making, organizational and planning skills
  • Pro-active / entrepreneurial attitude
  • Out-of-the-box thinking
  • Clear vision and leadership skills
  • Analytical mindset
  • Team player
  • Fluency in Amharic and English (other local and international languages offers an added value)
