Job Description


Bethzatha is a private limited company established in the year 1996 to provide health care services in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Bethzatha started its service in 1996 with a higher clinic around Olympia Square (Kirkos Sub City) and a free standing laboratory in Ambassador Theatre building. In 2003 Bethzatha established a 60 bed general hospital at Stadium area providing inpatient and outpatient services in several specialties. For over the past five years the general hospital has been giving medical care to over 100,000 patients per annum.

Reports to: – Maintenance Division Head

Major duties and responsibilities

Under close supervision of Maintenance Division Head, carry out installation, maintenance, inspection & testing, fault finding and repairs of all biomedical equipment. Conduct checks, updates and reports of critical supplies of oxygen, medical gases and vacuum as required. Identify gaps and risks in biomedical equipment and share with the Hospital Manager for implementation.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out installation, maintenance, inspection & testing, fault finding and repairs of all biomedical equipment.
  • Carry out the preparation and operation of a scheduled preventative maintenance system for biomedical and other medical equipment.
  • Conduct checks, updates and reports of critical supplies of oxygen, medical gases and vacuum as required.
  • Conduct checks, updates and reports of critical equipment as required.
  • Carry out departmental audits and implementation of Quality Improvement Plans.
  • Identify gaps and risks in biomedical equipment and share with the Hospital Manager for implementation
  • Evaluate the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of medical equipment, report and implement recommendations.
  • Advice the Hospital Management on planning acquisition and use of medical equipment.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports on equipment performance and cost analysis for renewal or renovation of equipment.
  • Liaise with and train medical staff on the use of medical equipment.
  • Maintain functionality and accuracy of calibration equipment through an established planned preventative maintenance (PPM) program.
  • Provide bio-medical technical support to staff and when required.
  • Plan, supervise and improvements any alterations on equipment as required.
  • Repair and maintain of biomedical equipment’s sent from other Bethzatha Health Service facilities as specified by the supervisor.
  • Keep abreast of new developments and acquire new skills & knowledge in order to maintain a high level of service.
  • Record all sentinel incidents/events and report within 24 hours using the provided tools
  • Maintain client/patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
  • Ensure that Bethzatha Health Services corporate governance policies are adhered to.
  • Prevent, detect and report any fraud or criminal activity
  • Perform any other duty as assigned by the supervisor

Job Requirements

1. Education : BSC/Diploma in Biomedical engineering or other related fields

2. Work Experience : 4/6 Years of Experience
