Cheshire Ethiopia (CE) was established in 1962 by the grand Children  of the late Emperor Haile Selassie and with technical support of Captain Leonard Cheshire. CE is a local independent NGO, staffed by Ethiopians and registered as an Ethiopian Resident Charity, while playing a leading role in physical rehabilitation of person with disability mainly children in Ethiopia.

Summary: –

Under the general supervision of the Senior Sewer the Assistant Lather Worker is engaged in sewing and lasting simple types of orthopedic footwear, fabricate tailor made outer sole and carries out minor orthopedic footwear repairs

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare lather, textile and syntactic materials by cutting ,gluing, punching for the fabrication of orthopaedic footwear and other appliances
• Fabricates tailor made outer sole and carries out minor orthopedic footwear repairs
• Glues cork, leather, wood, or rubber material to build up extension of outer sole to specified height. Buffs surface of sole and curves sole upward to provide stable walking surface.
• Prepares parts of seats and supports for Mobility Aids and tricycles
• Prepares different types of body supporting belts for patients,
• Clean tools, machineries, workbenches and other workshop equipment prior and post utilization,
• Transport materials, components and finished appliances from store and to store or to delivery point
• Performs any other related duties as directed by the Senior Sewer or Orthopedic Footwear Maker or Technical Coordinator.
