Job Description


JOB SUMMARY

This role is responsible for facilitating the process and implementation of youth-led advocacy, meaningful youth engagement in youth mobilization and social behavioural change in the IYA project. S/he will be responsible for working with young people, partners and stakeholders to instil the practice of meaningful youth engagement and participation in IYA’s mobilization work, and provide support to build the capacity of youth on youth-led advocacy. S/he will manage communications, publicity and media engagements to influence policy and social norms for positive youth development. S/he will play strategic facilitation role for the overall proceedings of advocacy, youth mobilization and SBC activities in IYA and beyond.

JOB REQUIREMENT

Education: Bachelors/Master’s degree in law, Human Rights, Social science or related field from a recognized university; or other relevant professional qualifications

Experience: 3 years of work experience for Bachelor holders and two years for Masters, preferably with added exposure on youth-led initiatives or related experiences Proven track record in coordination with multiple partners and strong networking skills

Number of staff required : Two

Competency Requirements

  • Fluent in Amharic and English languages, Writing and speaking skills of additional local languages is a plus.
  • String coordination and facilitation skills;
  • Well versed in computer literacy and soft skills;
  • Communications and partnership management skills;
  • Ability to conduct trainings and track progress;
  • Ability to sell the vision of IYA to relevant bodies;
  • Innovative, enthusiastic and a strong team player

Duty station: DIREDEWA with frequent travel to Harar and Jigiga
