Job Description


Job Summary

The position holder provides strategic support on the development of programme on gender, social inclusion and youth issues to support high quality programme work. The Advisor will work across the project and across consortium partners focusing on social and behavior change for health with inter sectionality on gender dimensions

  •  Design and lead system-based interventions and local innovative approaches to address the interlink between gender, social inclusion, social and behavior change for health.
  • Actively participate, and lead technically where relevant, in project design, implementation, reporting and monitoring based on ActionAid Ethiopia’s and donors’ requirements.
  • Lead development and implementation of the project’s gender and social inclusion strategy
  • Provide technical support and guidance across project‘s social and behavior change (SBC) strategies and capacity strengthening activities
  • Identify strategies for improved enabling environment for gender equitable and healthy behaviors.

Job Requirement

  • MA in Gender and Development Studies, Public Health, Law, development studies, social science OR other related disciplines with health-related background
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Good understanding of the context of women, girls and youth issues under Ethiopia social, political, economic and cultural context;
  • A person who champions women and girl’s agenda with an ability to conduct action research on economic and social issues
  • Experience and commitment to align & work with people living in poverty and particularly women and marginalized/excluded groups
  • Experience in social inclusion and youth programming approaches and strategies.
  • A good knowledge of Human Right Based Approach programming and Feminist approaches
  • Ability in the use of gender analysis tools
  • Broad understanding of national Gender and Women’s policy environment and local and national gender issues, women health issues;
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English
  • Experience in Project and program management. Teamwork and culture in functional reporting systems is an asset.

Duty Base: Addis Ababa with frequent field travels
