Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia (HFHE) started operation in 1993 as a branch of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI). HFHE has provided simple, affordable shelter for families in Ethiopia while also working to improve Water, Sanitation and Hygiene and empower Vulnerable Groups in the country.

JOB SUMMARY

The accountant is responsible for performing the day-to-day finical activities of the National Office and receive and review finical documents of filed sites /offices in the country. He/she is responsible to record all finical transactions in to excel template and make it ready for importing. The accountant is also responsible for supporting the integrity of the organization’s finical statement and compliance with the reporting requirements of Habitat for Humanity International/Doners

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle petty cash, expense, and always keep impress level by replenishment.
  • Receive complete payment documents from approved/Authorizer to pay as per HFH Ethiopia finical policies.
  • Prepare cheaque, vouchers (CPV, CRV, PCPV,) transfer letter for finical review and effect payment.
  • Issue receipt deposit cash collection at bank on daily basis.
  • Follow up international and Local transfer and collect bank advise from bank and record on cash receipt voucher.
  • Manage account record on daily basis /tracking of cash of every accountant on excel sheet leader daily after each payment.
  • Maintains current knowledge of local government financial accounting regulations and ensure compliance with tax regulations and other legal requirements.
  • Assist in the preparations for the grant related audit including providing all necessary documents.
  • Working on the month-end and quarterly end close process in consultation with finance team
  • Record journal entry of the voucher for payments based on the chart of accountant, donors budget line and project code.
  • Complete bank reconciliation of national office and all projects against the bank balance on the monthly basis
  • Prepare JV for settlements and payment which are not recorded on the check payment voucher & petty cash voucher.
  • Keep all finical documents in the manner ready for internal and external audit on the monthly basis.
  • Handle paid stamp and give reference number to every voucher, supplier, cash receipts and supporting documents.
  • Report online base salary income tax. Pension contribution tax and withholding tax payment to Ethiopian Revenue and customs Authority on monthly basis and effect the payment immediately.
  • report value added tax information to Ethiopian Revenue and Customer Authority every month.
  • Follow up incoming transfer and collect the bank advice from the commercial bank of Ethiopia and record on the cash receipts vouchers.
  • Duration of the contract: Two years, Renewable based on performance and availability of funding.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • BA Degree in Accounting/ Finance
  • Minimum of Two years and above, NGO experience is an added value.

Skill set required.

  • Time management, attention to detail, organization, interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving, communication, adaptability, and customer service orientation.
