Job Description


Dodai Manufacturing Plc (Dodai), is a recently incorporated organization launched in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on August 01, 2023. Dodai is a fast growing organization with a mission of making urban e-mobility accessible to everyone in Africa through its innovative products and services. Dodai plans to provide brand new electric two wheelers by assembling them here in Addis Ababa and plans to expand to major regional cities in Ethiopia by the end of 2025. It’s thus looking to engage dynamic Ethiopian talent to ensure the achievement of its goals.

Purpose of the Position

The Assembly Team Lead ensures efficient and seamless operations within the Sub-Assembly and Main Line Assembly processes. This role involves managing teams, resolving technical issues, maintaining productivity, and ensuring that assembly operations adhere to quality standards. The Assembly Team Lead is also responsible for tracking and accounting for all raw materials at assembly stations to support efficient production.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Issue Resolution and Technical Support
    • Troubleshoot technical issues on the assembly line to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
    • Collaborate with the engineering and quality assurance teams to resolve recurring or complex problems.
    • Provide hands-on support to team members during critical assembly operations.
  2. Team Management and Coordination
    • Supervise and coordinate activities of the Sub-Assembly and Main Line Assembly teams to achieve daily production targets.
    • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring effective use of manpower.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, addressing team concerns and promoting open communication.
    • Perform periodic performance evaluations for team members, identifying areas for development and recognizing achievements. Use these evaluations to recommend staff for promotions, training, or awards, ensuring fairness and transparency in decisions.
  3. Daily Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate records of daily production activities, including output, downtimes, and material usage.
    • Prepare and submit daily reports on production metrics to the Manufacturing Manager.
    • Ensure proper documentation of technical issues and their resolutions for continuous learning and process refinement.
  4. Process Improvement and Compliance
    • Identify and implement improvements to assembly processes to enhance efficiency and product quality.
    • Monitor adherence to safety protocols and company policies on the assembly floor.
    • Conduct routine checks to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  5. Material Tracking and Accountability
    • Track and manage all raw materials at assembly stations to prevent shortages or overuse.
    • Verify that materials are properly issued, stored, and utilized according to the production plan.
    • Report any discrepancies in material inventory to the relevant departments for corrective action.
About You

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an assembly line or supervisory role, preferably in manufacturing or automotive industries.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
    • Technical knowledge of assembly processes and troubleshooting techniques.
    • Proficiency in production reporting and data management.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Familiarity with safety standards and compliance requirements.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across teams.
