Job Description


Barcon Engineering is a leading construction firm specializing in water construction, road development, and import and export services. We seek a highly experienced Senior Finance and Admin Officer to oversee financial management, human resources, and general operational activities.

Job Summary

The Senior Finance and Admin Officer will manage the company’s financial operations, ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax laws, and handle administrative functions, including human resources. The ideal candidate must have extensive experience in financial management within the construction industry and proficiency in Peachtree Accounting software.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of financial strategies that align with the company’s long-term objectives and construction projects.
  • Provide financial direction to senior management to guide business decision-making and growth strategies.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and risks.
  • Oversee the financial management of construction projects, ensuring cost tracking and budget control.
  • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax laws and regulations, including VAT, payroll taxes, and annual filings.
  • Manage cash flow and treasury functions, including accounts payable, receivable, and payroll.
  • Establish internal financial controls to ensure compliance with accounting principles and industry regulations.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, banks, and financial institutions.
  • Oversee financial software systems and implement improvements for efficiency.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Supervise payroll processing and employee benefits administration.
  • Manage and coordinate human resource functions, including recruitment, performance management, and staff development.
  • Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for financial and administrative activities.
  • Monitor financial and operational systems to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead and manage the finance team, fostering a high-performance work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with construction industry regulations and labor laws.

Employment Type: Full-Time

About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in finance and administration, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Peachtree Accounting software.
  • Solid understanding of Ethiopian tax laws and financial regulations.
  • Previous experience in a senior finance role is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.
