Job Description


Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is a local non-governmental developmental and humanitarian Organization established in 2007 to ensure a brighter future for children, youth & women, by tackling root causes of poverty. ESD is operating its programs in five regions: Amhara, Oromia, Sidama, Debub Ethiopia, and Maikelawi Ethiopia regional states focusing on six thematic areas; Early Childhood development, Women and Girls empowerment, Quality Education development, Youth Skills Development and Job Creation, Environment Protection and Renewable Energy, and Humanitarian Response and Recovery.

Job Summary

The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the successful execution of Solar Project by assisting with planning, organizing, and overseeing various project tasks. This individual will work closely with program director and program lead at the ESD head office, stakeholders, and team members to ensure that project objectives, timelines, and budgets are met. Responsibilities include coordinating resources, monitoring progress, managing documentation, and ensuring effective communication across all levels of the project. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment to ensure smooth project delivery.

Key duties and responsibilities

The project coordinator is responsible for the projects day to day implementation within the project implementation area by providing both programmatic and administrative support and has the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Plans, Organizes and directs the overall activities of the Project based on the organizational mission, core values and regulations;
  • Responsible for the overall project planning, implementation , monitoring and reporting of the project
  • Develop mechanisms of collaboration and partnership with financial institution to facilitate youth access to finance
  • Facilitate and coordinate the youth development activities by facilitate ,providing and following up of quality technical and vocational skill training as per the standard
  • Prepare quarterly, biannual and annual narratives reports including updates and case studies of the project success stories to donor and government offices on due time,
  • Reviewing the current government youth policy ,packages, strategies and programs and align with the organizational youth focused projects
  • Assess and make proposals to support youth initiatives requests
  • Support the beneficiaries selection processes together with the district respective line office
  • Link the trained youth with the job in collaboration with the relevant government office
  • Coordinate ,follow up and provide support for the facilitation of skill training program at each TVET College
  • Networking with other relevant youth focused likeminded organization ,platforms and forums
  • Work closely with concerned government sectors in establishing solar enterprises and linking them to the market
  • Coach youth enterprise performance and document the progress ,lessens and best practice of the interventions
  • Act as a project focal for the successful implementation of the project activities in coordination and collaboration with partner organization, stakeholders and authorities in the concerned departments.
  • Ensures that financial management and accounting documents are established and maintained in a proper and systematic way in accordance with the financial policy

Skills and Abilities

  • Good command of spoken and written Amharic and English language is required
  • Excellent coordination, facilitation, communication and problem solving skills
  • Strong networking ,partnership and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in budget development and knowledge in financial management
  • Commendable Knowledge of the National and Regional policies and strategies,
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of Project Cycle Management,

Basic knowledge of computer programs ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint, publisher, etc ),

About You

Required qualification and Experience

  • BA/MA degree in Development Studies, Project Management ,business administration Social Study or other related social science disciplines,
  • Minimum of 5 years and above experience for BA And 3 years and above for MA in youth employment including job linkage, coordinating internships ,training , entrepreneurship promotion
  • Understanding of the national youth and employability policy and also the energy sector
  • Experience in working with TVET and financial institution and youth development has added value
  • Experience in NGO valued
  • Good command of spoken and written Amharic and English language is required

  • Strong networking ,partnership and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in budget development and knowledge in financial management
