Job Description


Rift Valley Children and Women Development Organization (RCWDO) is a local Nongovernmental Organization established in 1993 G.C. It is currently operating in fourteen woredas of five zones of Oromia Regional State namely: Bale, Arsi, West Arsi, East Shoa and Guji zones implementing integrated rural community development programme in partnership with different international NGOs targeting people living in poverty and marginalization. The organization has signed an agreement with Imagine 1 Day (I1D) with the support from FCDO and UNICEF to implement a project entitled “Access to basic education services for conflict-affected out-of-school children in East Wellaga, West Wellaga and North Shawa Zones of Oromia region.

Currently the organization would like to invite qualified and competent applicants for the following position.

 

Reports to: Program Coordinator at Head Office, Addis Ababa

 

Purpose: Coordinate financial management of the FCDO Project in Boji Dermeji Woreda of West Wollega Zone

 

Number of Positions: 1 (one)

 

Job Overview: 

The Education Program Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the education program of the organization with particular emphasis to Education in Emergencies (EiE).S/he is also responsible for project inputs, in consultation with the Program Coordinator, to support program strategy, external representation and coordination with the project partners. S/he will also facilitate coordination with the partner, conduct field visit and make necessary changes in consultation with the program coordinator & works closely with local partners.

 

Duties and responsibilities; 

  • Conduct back to school campaign jointly with children, PTAs, and the entire crises affected people.
  • Carry out field-based needs assessments and gap analyses and communicate through proper channel.
  • Support the project field staff in the preparation review and periodic revision of their detailed implementation plans (DIPs) and management.
  • Monitor the implementation progress of the project by means of provincial field visits and periodic meetings with local stakeholders.
  • Work with the provincial based project team for the implementation of monthly targets; weekly work plans; database management; regular reviews of target indicators; and the processing of status updates from field staff.
  • Identify training needs and develop a capacity building strategy. Based on the defined strategy, deliver initial and refresher training for ASR facilitators, ALP facilitators, host community teachers, school leaders and students’ parent
  • Support the on-going capacity building for ASR/ALP professional trainings, gender and PSEA, MHPSS, Community leaders, and other trainings stated on the PD.
  • Facilitate for training manual Preparation both in English and Affan Oromoo languages.
  • Prepare, publish and distribute education related leaflets, posters and handbooks for targeted primary schools and stakeholders
  • Willingness and commitment to deployment in remote areas / IDPs/returnee site

Salary:  Attractive but as per organization Salary scale

 

Employment Condition: 1 Year of fixed contract term with possibility of additional extensions

About You

Qualifications, skills & experience required:

  • MED degree in educational planning and management, School leadership, instructional leadership, Pedagogical Science or other related educational fields
  • Minimum Seven years’ work experience in project coordination, trainings facilitation and management areas.
  • Experience to lead projects on emergency and development settings
  • Excellent in all computer skills
  • Experience in reporting to donors in an NGO environment
  • Excellent communication skill in Local Language and English
