HI is going to implement an Inclusive Technical support to WFP aiming to enhance Disability Inclusive practices in their operations/programs to ensure meaningful engagement of persons with disabilities in three woredas of Somali and two woredas of Sidama regions.
Mission
The Disability Inclusion Social Workers are working under the direct supervision of the project officer and will be based in three target woredas with frequent travel in woredas most of his/her time to be available for technical support of OPDs , WFP field level staff, and implementing partners. The overall objective of the position is to provide technical. Follow-up, and coaching support to OPDs to ensure and improve their effective participation, integration, and representation in the targeting committees and community platforms.
. Responsibilities
1. Activity Implementation and management support
- Mapping out the persons with disabilities, OPDs, and their needs /situation in the target world/areas
• Develop Quarterly, monthly, and weekly activity plans, by taking in account the objective of WFP ITA activities, its geographic coverage and location, target woredas, and available resources.
• Provide coaching and ground technical guidance to OPDs and WFP’s cooperating partners in targeting and participation of persons with disabilities in their activities/operations
• Ensure the representation and participation of OPDs in targeting committees and /or the Food Security Task Forces (FSTFs) at the woreda, and kebele levels.
• Conduct regular field monitoring field visits (districts /primary distribution points and community level) to support Persons with disabilities to meaningfully participate in WFP’s activities.
• Be the focal point for sharing information with WFP and partners regarding disability inclusion and persons with disabilities
• Train and coach persons with disabilities to claim their rights in accessing services equally and effectively participate in WFP activities.
• Along with WFP and its partners, efficiently and effectively engage in community targeting process and ensure that PWDs are also included.
• Conduct visits to Primary distribution points to observe and monitor the participation and inclusion of PWDs in accessing the services
• Conduct regular meetings with WFP field-level staff and partners to review the progress of activities specifically focusing on persons with disabilities.
• Work in close collaboration with WFP and OPDs and facilitate regular disability-inclusive activities in the field.
• Share relevant information with the Project Office and PM and assist preparation of reports and documentation of case studies / and promising practices.
• Perform other related duties and/or tasks as may become necessary or requested by immediate supervisor
- Proper documentation and record keeping.
• Ensure proper documentation and efficient use of project resources.
• Produce terms of reference and activity reports for each activity implemented.
• Coordinate with the Project Officer, and the PM, and technical teams the to provide inputs for the periodical reports to submit to the Project Manager.
• Carry out regular recording and reporting of activities, field trips, and meetings, in coordination with the project officer
• Compile monthly and project activities reports and submit them to the project Officer and the PM
• Contribute to designing systems to compile and disseminate good practices.
• Ensure regular recording of field trips and activity implementation
• Prepare and submit monthly time sheets.
3. Maintain a high quality of work
- Study and maintain a high level of knowledge and skills in understanding disability, the inclusion of persons with disabilities, CRPD, and SDG, and implementation.
• Coordinate with the project manager, the project officer, and the project team, to ensure the project and its activities comply with local laws and regulations, HI standards, and WFP requirements.
4. Responsible for implementing the safeguarding policies at a project level
• Prepare work plans and implement safeguarding (child protection, PSEA) activities.
• Ensures that the local partners are aware of the safeguarding policies and facilitate training to build their capacity in this regard
• Ensure that the safeguarding policies are implemented at all levels in the project site
• Ensure that project beneficiaries are aware of these policies and promote to report any concern regarding child protection or PSEA
• Monitor and document the progress of child protection and PSEA activities.
• Report immediately any concern, or incident to the PM/PD concerning child protection and PSEA.
5. Relationship management
• Represent HI on the work-related engagement with WFP and its partners, OPDs, and government partners in the course project implementation under the supervision of the project officer.
• Cooperate with local government counterparts, targeting committees, and other stakeholders to realize the project objectives.
• Maintain conducive working relationships with staff members, WFP and its implementing partners, OPDs, persons with disabilities, and local government to facilitate the implementation of the activities.
• Set up a proper communication system with the concerned bodies
About You
Education & Qualification
- Degree in Disability Studies, Social Sciences, Education, Special Needs Education, Community Development, or other relevant fields in line with the Job
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of programmatic and technical experience in the area of inclusion
• Knowledge and understanding of the rights of persons with disabilities, CRPD and SDG
• Hands-on experience with the rights of persons with disabilities
• Experience engaging with organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) – providing technical advice and coaching
• Experience in targeting, identifying, and addressing participation barriers of people with disabilities,
• Experience integrating disability identification processes with especially in food security programs
• Experience and knowledge of disability inclusion and the rights of people with disabilities
• Strong ability to provide qualitative disability inclusion reports
• Good knowledge of data collection, analysis, and reporting following

• High degree of confidentiality.
• Computer literacy (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Diligence and attention to detail
• Ability to travel and work independently in remote areas
• Good facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to work with teams and develop team spirit.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Language:
• Knowledge of the local language(Somali) and Amharic is mandatory; English is an asset.
