Job Description


Union of Ethiopian Women and Children Associations (UEWCA) is a non-governmental, apolitical, non-religious consortium of 88 local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) focusing on the empowerment and gender equality of women, girls, and children. Established in 2010, UEWCA has been instrumental in coordinating efforts to ensure gender equality and empowerment across Ethiopia. UEWCA legally registered with the FDRE Authority for Civil Society Organizations (ACSO) with registration number 1482 and have a physical presence in Addis Ababa.

The Organization is seeking dedicated and experienced employee for the following position to join our team for a humanitarian project entitled “providing urgent response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) survivors to be implemented in selected Woredas of the Amhara Regional State with the support of EHF. The successful candidates will play a key role in implementing and overseeing GBV prevention and response activities, financial management and timely reporting ensuring that survivors receive timely and comprehensive support.

Salary: As per the Organization Scale

Required: One

Duration: Seven Months with possibility of extension based on availability of funds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee all financial aspects of the project, including budgeting, accounting, and reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including invoices, receipts, and financial statements.
  • Monitor project expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines and donor requirements.
  • Coordinate with project staff to ensure proper financial management and adherence to financial policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial plans and budgets for the project.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports and documentation to relevant stakeholders.

About You

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • A Minimum of 5 years of experience as project Accountant in a humanitarian or non-profit organization (NGO).
  • Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Amharic.
