Job Description


VisionFund Micro Finance Institution (S.C) is an Institution established according to proclamation No. 40/96 to provide financial services to the productive poor in the rural and urban areas of Ethiopia. VisionFund is currently operating in five of the Regional States of the country.
VisionFund MFI is currently looking candidates for Credit Manager Role for South Regional Operation Office based at Hawassa, Sidama Region. The successful candidates will have skills and experience that meet the following requirements:

JOB SUMMARY

The role of the regional office manager for credit service and portfolio quality management is to oversee all regional credit service and portfolio quality management initiatives;

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Loan appraisal and analysis:

  • Planning, organizing, coordinating and supervising the credit services & portfolio quality management of the branches;
  • Review credit analysis proposals and give feedback and recommendations to the approving organ at regional office and branches;
  • Tests the feasibility of proposals against the prevailing macro/micro economic conditions;
  • Propose recommendation on the loan to be approved to the loan approving committee at regional office;
  • Guide loan requests forwarded from branches as per the loan approval guideline;
  • Work closely with regional operation directors and other concerned work units to boos credit service operation;
  • Prepare & keep monthly, quarterly report in soft and hard copies for the department & concerned parties.
  • Review and Conducts credit analysis by counter checking the presented financial statements, business plan and other relevant documents;
  • Work and set strategies at the regional office for overall growth as per the annual business plan;
  • Provided by branches; provide monthly, weekly, and daily performance reports;
  • Ensure that all loan collaterals are registered by the authorized government unit; analyze the loan documents and promptly provide constructive feedback to branches;
  • Validate the viability and eligibility of the customers’ business centers; the provided collateral sufficiency and confirm the eligibility related matters;

Portfolio quality management:

  • Review recommendations for write-off of loans and participate in making write-off decisions;
  • Propose work out or remedial action on any delinquent loan before it becomes non-performing;
  • Makes regular follow-up for the repayment of loans at each branch and reminds branch managers if there are any irregularities;
  • Submits weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually or as requested status report on credit service and portfolio quality management related matters;
  • Maintain relevant data base to be used for credit analysis, approval, follow-up, etc.;
  • Determines the appropriate course of action for troubled loans that may be saved by rescheduling, refinancing, taking legal action, etc., and reports to supervisors.

Ensure on time loan fund transfer to branches:

  • Receives loan fund transfer request from branch offices and validate the eligibility of the requested loan fund amount with the loan cycle and product before sending to the head office credit and portfolio management department daily & periodically;
  • Assists the credit service and portfolio quality management department in all matters pertaining to credit operation activities;
  • Identify the available source of loanable funds and direct and assist branches for the desired action;

Other duties and responsibility:

  • Undertakes studies and suggests improvements on the existing credit policy and procedures of the Company;
  • Present recommendation on the changes to be made on the Credit Analysis policy and procedure;
  • Identify skill or knowledge gap of branches and present recommendations on the areas of training and/or education to be provided for staff;
  • Work cooperatively with different Departments (horizontally).
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • MBA/MA/BA Degree in Accounting, Business Management, Economics or related fields.
  • A minimum of 7/9 years of relevant work experience.
  • Good teamwork;
  • Demonstrated technical ability to interact and work effectively with others at all levels;
  • Basic computer skills and excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Self-starter and perseverance in character;
  • Be proficient in Microsoft with excellent excel spreadsheet skills;
  • Very good communicator.
