Shega is an integrated media, high-quality content, data, and research company that is in the business of making the Ethiopian and African innovative economy make sense. Set up both in Ethiopia and United States, Shega offers three lines of service/products:

Shega Media, news, analysis, reports, visuals, and a weekly newsletter covering Ethiopia’s innovative economy.

Shega Insights, a data, research, and advisory platform and service,

Shega Brand Studio, an advertising agency arm of your business that helps brands to meet their marketing and communication goals.

Summary

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Director to add value to our growth activities by identifying new commercial opportunities and managing business development and sales efforts. An excellent commercial director has entrepreneurial mindset and is have a growth mindset. The ideal candidate will also be a creative strategist with excellent organizational abilities and experience or understanding of the Technology, Startup, Consulting and Finance Space in Ethiopia and Africa.

Responsibilities

The goal is fully utilize commercial opportunities Shega has created over the past few year with the aim of growing revenue generation and lead the company to sustainable path.

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies according to company goals and objectives aiming to accelerate growth
  • Conducting market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (Scaling, expansion, business development, Grant, Competitions, etc.)
  • Understand the requirements of existing customers to ensure their needs are being met
  • Act to acquire new customers and manage client relationships (new and existing)
  • Collaborate with and coordinate diverse teams (shega insights, shega media and brand studio, Finance and Admin etc.)
  • Build and maintain profitable partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for senior management
  • Assist in setting financial targets and budget development and monitoring
  • Manage Grant Applications, Competitions and other Financial resource generation channels that are identified

Job Requirements

  • Proven working experience in public relations required
  • Proven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns
  • Strong relationships with media outlets
  • Experience in acting as a company spokesperson; comfortable and skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Event planning experience
  • BA/MA degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or a related discipline
