Job Description


Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine. Samaritan’s Purse is privileged to be part of the humanitarian effort in Ethiopia and legally registered as foreign charity to work in Ethiopia since October 08, 2018.

Duration of Contract: untill October 31,2023.

Key responsibility

The purpose of the Shelter Roving warehouse Assistant position is to day to day implementation of the support functions responsibilities in the project site.

  • Receive supplies and ensure that they are in good condition and accompanied with correct document
  • Maintain an open communication with all shelter & WASH departments, Weldia logistic team and liaise Addis staffs for support in the absence of supervisor.
  • Always maintain standard warehouse management and accurate data entry
  • Distribute/organize transport of material and equipment according to procedures
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure prompt and accurate delivery of goods, services, and equipment.
  • Follow up on stock balance, share periodic stock reports to Fleet Officer and Shelter program Manager.
  • Apply inventory management methods
  • Prepare dispatches, waybills, and donation certificates as per SP logistics Handbook.
  • Follow up on stock project periods, expiry periods and timely reporting.
  • Maintain buffer stock balance.
  • Register and record assets as per the SP logistics Handbook.
  • Does any other work as request by the line manager & fleet Officer?

Specific responsibilities

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of program intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.

  • Assist other shelter team in loading and unloading goods from main shelter warehouse.
  • Assist in receiving goods inwards, check and inspect goods received ensuring they are of accurate quantity, type and acceptable quality with in the seven temporary local materials warehouses.
  • To carry out regular stock takes and quality control.
  • To pick and pack orders to be dispatched to supplier as per the SP guide line
  • Shelter Warehouses and Assets.
  • Reporting on deadstock.
  • Plan, schedule and monitor transport of material/equipment according to demands and procedures with discuss shelter team.
  • Work closely with Shelter & WASH program staff, finance staff, and procurement.
  • Coordinate the receiving and distribution of goods

Job Requirements

Generic professional competencies:

  • Experience from working as a Logistics/warehouse in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge of English and other local language

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • At least two years’ experience in an international NGO.
  • Degree in logistics/Management/Marketing/supply chain or any other related knowledge or diploma with same field
  • Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse people through formal and non-formal methods
  • Analytic and computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access,

LANGUAGE 

  • Amharic
  • English.

REASONING ABILITY
