Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership guidance in designing effective advocacy issues/topics for the ILaNs TP inn general and RtG project specifically within the framework of WV advocacy and communication policy, principles, and values;
  • Provide overall technical support and coordination in the designing, preparation of FMNR scale up advocacy statements during the RTG project implementation period according to WVE policy
  • Provide overall technical support and coordination in the designing ILaNS TP advocacy program
  • enhance understanding regarding advocacy standards and accountability in FMNR scale up programming across the COE & national alliance, partners and WVE;
  • Actively participate and take the lead/initiatives on the development of national FMNR scale up advocacy strategy
  • Coordinate and lead the RTG project during DIP preparation, implementation, and M&E ensuring quality and standards through enhanced partnership with the RTG stakeholders
  • In collaboration with the RTG project staffs ensure the project implementation is technically sound, environmentally friendly, socially and cultural acceptable
  • Work closely with project managers, technical leads, and Communication and External relation team to increase RTG visibility within the partnership through different mediums, such as connection, regional newsletter
  • Play a key role in the identification, capturing, distributing, sharing of best practices and success stories with in the ILaNS TP programs
  • Create and manage standardized templates related to information gathering/synthesis, public communication and other purposes (e.g., narrative, graphic presentation, mapping, etc.)
  • Produce summary for quick update on key RTG program activities for update in e-platforms that includes website and social media, etc.
  • Work on editing and formatting of the different training and orientation materials prepared by the technical program before final printing and distribution
  • Support project  staff in organizing and managing seminars, workshops, press conferences and support in producing summary report of the events
  • In collaboration with MEAL coordinator, develop indicators and framework for measuring effectiveness and impact of advocacy messaging.
  • Ensure that all advocacy messages, documents and strategies are evidence-based, drawn from field experience and assessments, of high quality and effective
  • Suggest key advocacy opportunities and targets at national and regional levels and develop an advocacy engagement plan
  • Provide trainings and capacity building for WVE RTG  teams on consistent messaging in line with communication and advocacy strategy and protocols
  • Ensure effective partnership, networking and coordination/collaboration with government, NGOs, agencies and other international partners networks in the re-green the globe intervention
  • Regularly participate in RTG stakeholder national and regional level  meeting or other platforms to ensure effective information sharing and raising advocacy issues within WVE
  • Ensure documentation of generated evidences and lesson from RTG project intervention sites and other sources for advocacy, scalable approaches and best experiences;
  • Strengthen and maintain linkages with key implementing and research partners within Ethiopia in Re-green the globe programming.
  • In collaboration with RTG team, create a discussion forum between consortium partners, regional/zonal/district level government representatives on FMNR practices and policies;
  •  Participate on online and face to face research forums and create networking to disseminate RTG FMNR  experiences;
  • Activity participate on planning designing and implementation of need and gap assessments, surveys and operational research in relation to the RTG project;
  • In collaboration with the RTG MEAL coordinator and other stakeholders/ partners, contribute on the writing of articles and or abstracts and or project concepts for advocacy and resource mobilization for RTG
  • Work with RTG MEAL Coordinator in knowledge management, learnings and monitoring.

Academic background and experience

  • 7 & Above  years for university degree & Above 5 years for MA in communication, social sciences, information management or a similar field in INGOs/NGOs and National level project management and or Information and Knowledge management;
  • Experiences in advocacy, communications, and dissemination in an international environment with good understanding of the current climate change related development and FMNR issues
  • Proven experience crafting messages in various formats (articles, press releases, websites, photos, success stories, blog entries, tweets, etc.) targeting a variety of audiences
