Job Summary

This is an opportunity to be part of the FZS team working with the Bale Mountains National Park staff to improve the management of one of Ethiopia’s most important protected areas. The Procurement Officer will support FZS operations in the Bale Mountains, taking a lead on procurement of equipment and services including  building materials, tools, uniforms, ranger (scout) rations and other items as required. Previous experience of the procurement processes of funders such as KfW, EU or other donors would be an advantage. Maintaining records in compliance with auditing requirements and supporting stock management will be an important component of the job.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Overseeing and supervising activities of the purchasing department.
• Preparing plans for the purchase of equipment, services, and supplies.
• Following and enforcing the organisation and donor procurement policies and procedures.
• Reviewing, comparing, analysing, and approving products and services to be purchased.
• Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
• Supporting the organisation’s stores and stock management
• Researching, evaluating, maintaining and updating supplier information such as qualifications, delivery times, product ranges, etc.
• Maintaining good supplier relations and negotiating contracts.
• Preparing budgets, cost analyses, and reports

Job Requirement:

• High school diploma/GED
• Degree in accounting, business management or a similar field preferred
• 2+ years of experience as a procurement officer or in a similar position for degree holder
• 4+ years of experience as a procurement officer or in a similar position for diploma holder
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Good analytical and strategic thinking skills
• Supervisory and management experience

Desirable skills include

• Experience of stock management and the link with procurement systems
• Written and spoken English
• Written and spoken Afan Oromo

Duration: up to 12 months, renewable depending on funds and performance.
